3. Dark Void+Choice Scarf+Smeargle
Basically, take a Smeargle (with a Speed-increasing Nature, and Max IVs and EVs in Speed), give it a Choice Scarf, and have it use Dark Void. This wouldn't really be as useful in Gen 7 (except MAYBE in Battle Royals), since they reduced Dark Void's Accuracy, but in Gen 6 it might be useful for non-Legendary Double/Triple Battles.
4. Truant/Slow Start+Skill Swap+Good Ability
Basically a modified version of the whole "get rid of your negative Ability" thing. Rather than just getting rid of it, Skill Swap over a useful Ability (Pure Power, Huge Power, and Scrappy come to mind).
5. Magic Guard+Life Orb+Double-Edge
This one would be rather hard to actually implement, due to the fact it would only be any good Pre-Gen 6, and that it would require transferring a Gen 3 Cleffa/Clefairy that knew Double-Edge AND had the right PVs, up to Gen 4, and Evolving it. Still MIGHT be useful, though.
6. Paralysis+Quick Feet+Facade
A little awkward compared to a Toxic Orb, but you'd avoid the damage from the Poison, for what it's worth.
7. Safeguard+Swagger/Flatter
Surprised I've never seen or heard of this one, considering how simple it is. Should work with Leaf Guard or Misty Terrain, too.
8. Transform+Shedinja
Pretty cool trick, but I'm not sure how useful it would really be.
9.Choice Scarf/Assault Vest+Imposter
This is one I've actually used before in real Battles, and its pretty good (in particular the Choice Scarf one). Definitely a good way of taking advantage of Imposter.
10. Yache Berry+Water-type
Pretty straightforward. Use a Yache Berry to protect against Freeze-Dry. I've used this one before, too, and I KNOW it's useful. (IF your opponent knows Freeze-Dry, anyway.)
11. Trick-or-Treat+Expert Belt
This one could be used with Soak or Forest's Curse, too.
12. No Guard+Skill Swap+One-hit-Ko Move
It has a lot of potential, but it would probably be pretty awkward to do this most of the time.
13. Clangorous Soulblaze+Psych Up
Another really straightforward one.
15. Magic Bounce+Swagger/Flatter+Own Tempo
Using Magic Bounce in this and similar ways has a lot of potential, I think. It would be interesting to use with Contrary, Sap Sipper, or any similar Abilities, as well.
16. Aqua Jet+Storm Drain
This could also be used with Water Absorb/Dry Skin, for a priority healing move.
17. Super Effective priority move+Weakness Policy
Same concept as the previous one, more or less.
18.Endure+Weakness Policy+Shedinja
Probably the most unusual of these so far, it's obviously pretty risky.
19. Camouflage+Normal Gem+Hyper Beam/Giga Impact
You could do similar things to this in Gen 5 Games with the other Gems, depending upon the Terrain.
20. Skill Swap+Own Tempo+Outrage
Another Skill Swap one. There's loads of things similar to this you could do with Skill Swap.
I've got say, that is really cool.
On a side note, I just thought I'd mention something I regularly do with my Speed Boost Sharpedos (I like Sharpedo a lot, BTW). I have them use Protect on the first turn BEFORE Mega Evolving them. It's usually pretty safe to do this, and it makes Mega Sharpedo WAY faster, which can make a big difference.
I mean yeah, but sharpedo isn’t really good until it mega evolves sadly, you can’t really stall sharpedo unless you use a switch in to counter a grass move, which will only be like 1.5x boosts. You wouldn’t be able to last long becuase sharpedo doesn’t have good defense, and goes down in like one thunder.
The question is: Can a Mega Sharpedo with (at level 50) 211 Attack, an Abilty that increases Crunch's damage by 50%, and a 50% increase to its Speed from my Speed Boost trick, take out whatever it is that would be using that Thunder in ONE HIT?
Sharpedo isn’t even that high in the pokemon tier lol, almost all electric types have a massive amount of speed, I doubt it’s tanky, because of its high speed balances it out. a joleton could make quick work of it with a choice scarf lol. And thats one of the basic examples.
Cool ideas! Thanks! The very first one up there… Does it sound plausible in a Real Battle? I mean, if I could ever refrain from using an all Dragon Team, I would like to try it myself, but every time I get ready to Battle, I just end up using a bunch of Dragons, lol!
Oh, and I'm not necessarily referring to "Glass Cannons". What I'm referring to is the use of damage multipliers. I believe I explained how a Dragonite could reduce the damage of an Ice-type move from 4× damage to ½ damage, right? Well there are offensive techniques, too. Read my Dragon Master blog. It mentions the power of moves such as Dragon Dance, and Swords Dance. Also, the Weakness Policy, which, once activated, will double your Attack and Sp. Attack. That effectively makes your Normal Effectiveness moves Super Effective. It's just a matter of math, lol!
Just Random Matchup at Battle Spot. And of course an all Ice/Fairy Team can beat an all Dragon Team (provided they're good enough), that's not my point. My point is 1 or 2 Fairy-types on a Mixed Team isn't going to defeat a well coordinated Dragon-type Team. Most people (actual Human Players, anyway) don't focus on one type. I'm saying if you do, you can not only get away with it, but also catch an opponent who's used to a well-rounded Team off guard. One Xerneas isn't going to defeat your entire Team, not if you know what you're doing.
Ahh, well I find the phrase “If they’re well coordinated enough†to be applicable to everything lol, i just find it difficult to even comprehend that a mixed player (which would typically be a team created to counter all that’s oppose the strategy or at least attempt to) would loose to a meme-able team, dragon dance is indeed a good move, but that doesn’t necessarily make dragons amazing, we know Gemonacy+power herb and nasty plot, etc already exist. Dragons aren’t special for knowing to learn dragon dance. It isn’t all that viable as your overexaggerating is what I’m saying, it’s quite funny and cool though//
The only way Geomancy is even a useful move in a serious Battle, is if it's paired with a Power Herb. Pretty much every Xerneas I've defeated did just that. And the premise of an all Dragon Team is pretty straightforward. Basically, it's using overwhelming Offensive Power, to take down one's opponents, coupled with Defensive Items/Abilities, to ensure you get off the necessary moves to do so. My Dragon Master blog covers most of this, but one thing to keep in mind with Xerneas: Mega Rayquaza is faster. Imagine a hypothetical 1 on 1 between a Mega Rayquaza and a Xerneas. If you do that, you (hopefully) will get my point.
Like i do understand most fairy types lack of offensive movesets, and they’re mostly support TBH, i’ve ONLY used Florges, Mega Diancie, and Gallade/Gardevoir. So i fully understand honestly.
Gallade isn't a Fairy-type. That aside, the main point is Fairy-types aren't as strong (in general) as Dragon-types. There are no Pseudo-legendary Fairy-types (yet), and only a few Legendary ones. And those few Legendary ones are not very sturdy (aside from Tapu Fini, by far the hardest for me to deal with).
Oh well dang. You can’t fully rely on the fact that the fairy would just 1v1 you though. Again it’s mostly just a switch in, because you are right. Fairy types suck in offensive. You have too give gardevoir a choice scarf just to deal decent damage with moonblast. But i mean a mixed competitive team that is typically worked around negating your loses. Is what makes competitive, competitive. Why would you make a team that exposes you to dragons? From all the PTSD everyone has from Garchomp in Gen 4 lol
Oh and sadly, I don’t really own a 3DS, rest in piece battle spot, but dude if you have a PC i would love to face you in showdown. Which is the same as 3DS + more.
God that sturdy Shedinja ability switch thing is such a pain. Also Heliolisk with solar power + sunny day + choice scarf is underrated. And of course the arena trap + encore lol.
The major flaw in the "Sturdy Shedinja" strategy, is that Shedinja is only invincible because of Sturdy. Sturdy cannot protect Shedinja from a Haxorus with Mold Breaker, nor a Garchomp's Rough Skin. It also cannot protect it from Sandstorms, or Hail, or Poison, or Burns, or Leech Seed, or a Rocky Helmet, or Spiky Shield, or lots of other things.
True, but you can’t just name all of ones downfalls, and expect the other team to be built around just deafeating a shedinga lol, there are more other things to worry about people usually consider, like getting rid of stealth rocks or trick room teams, those are scary!!
I mean the legendaries main move wouldn’t one shot shedinja, unless the move is fire/dark which would only be Reshiram/Groundown/Ho-oh so you’re wrong lol, and the rest is right so yeah, I’m not saying it’s better then your dragon team here it was just a reminiscent of the Shedinja strategy. Lol. I mean you feel pretty confident in your strategy. I’m just saying it’s not really special, you told me how I’m just spouting basics, but your strategy with Dragons is basic in itself, The strategy your giving just seems like the given dragon combo that the game gave you. I mean maybe you could tell me your team, because your dragon blog definitly doesn’t say so/
Mold Breaker, Turbo blaze, Teravolt, and the moves Photon Geyser, Moongeist Beam, and Sunsteel Strike, all ignore your opponents Ability, including Wonder Guard, and Sturdy. IMO, that's a pretty big weakness. Star Shadow apparently made a blog way back that covered some of Shedinja's weaknesses. I'd recommend reading it.
