Here’s a short essay that I had to write for school.I haven’t written in six months, so I apologize for any errors. I’d love to hear your side of this argument, so please do comment! I had stumbled across a documentary called “The Red Pill†at one in the morning and I started writing my thoughts about it.

Equality between genders has always been an intriguing topic for me to come across. On one side, you have the feminists who believe that women are oppressed and are only seen as sex objects. On the other, you have men’s rights activists who hold the opinion that women have unfair benefits, such as getting out of court trials and rape allegations . As a sixteen-year-old female growing up and learning about women throughout history, I tend to lean more on the feminist side, because of how women were looked down upon and not seen as an individual. Although we are taught these things, men are just as individualistic as women.
While watching the documentary “The Red Pillâ€, I’m learning that both sides have their equal share of problems. “What does the term ‘the red pill’ mean?†you may be asking. It’s derived from the movie “The Matrix†where the protagonist has to choose between a red and a blue pill. The red pill represents the unlikable truth while the blue pill represents living a beautiful lie. In our “blue pill†world, we see a patriarchal system where men control the women and make the decisions. While this is true to an extent, with men leading the countries and wars throughout history, men’s activists believe that they are the ones at a disadvantage. Men have been expected to always be on the line, risking their lives and automatically be willing to sacrifice themselves for the women. Ninety-two percent of workplace fatalities were male, only seven percent female. It’s been the “role†that has been set for them.
Something else I’m learning is to keep an open mind and receive information from multiple platforms, so a person can form their own opinion, instead of relying on one source and expecting it to always be true. In this documentary, the opinions of feminists and men’s activists are shared in hopes of luring you on to one side or the other. It’s really quite eye opening how firm the advocates are and how close minded they seem.
I believe things are massively different with the state of equality from a century ago. A century ago, I would’ve wanted to be a man, so I could vote and make it in the business world. Times have changed since then, women have been granted access to voting and offered more opportunities. I think the balances have begun to shift more towards the women’s side.
Court cases are a good example of how women can get the upper hand. In custody cases, the woman has a higher chance of getting the child, even if the man had better qualifications. In rape allegations, the man is always seen as the perpetrator and the woman is always the victim. Sexual harassment and abuse can happen to a man, but yet the media tends to overlook it. This might seem super misogynistic to be saying, but it’s true how it “seems†like woman are always the innocent ones.
In our world today, in these times, we should be uniting together. We need to end gender discrimination, and have open minds to people who have opposing opinions. Collect information from multiple sources. Formulate your own opinion! Don’t be afraid to speak out, but keep it respectful! Hopefully in the future, our “blue pilled†world will see how the gender rules have significantly changed.
As a person who regularly has to sit in the middle of our own personal "Gender War" here at Home (between my Feminist Sister and my "Traditionalist" Father), I agree with just about everything you said here.
The real problem (and the only reason there are all of these issues that legitimate Feminists and Men's Rights Activists complain about) are Misogynists (like my Dad), and the Misandrists (like my Sister, to a certain extent) that are supposedly trying to stop them.
You're absolutely correct that things are better for Women than they used to be in certain ways, but regardless of the ways that some Women can take advantage of some certain things (like the false rape allegation thing that you mentioned), the fact remains that Women are discriminated against constantly, and that many of these so-called "Women's Rights victories" only helped certain Women.
(I'm referring to things like the legalization of Abortion, which Pro-Life Women like my Sister find disgusting, not "liberating".)
Sure, if you're lucky, you can take advantage of certain things if you're a Woman, but the World is still (unfortunately) ruled by Evil, Misogynistic Men, and it's a far worse place because of it.
Being a Man myself, I'm not blaming the entire male Gender like my Sister tends to do, but there's a small minority of Men that are to blame for much of the World's problems, and Women are oftentimes not even given a chance (by the Misogynistic Men who have the power to do so) to change things for the better.
I'm reluctant to call myself a Feminist (because I'm pretty Conservative, and AFAIK Feminists are typically considered more Liberal), but my Sister calls herself a "Conservative Feminist", and I tend to agree with her on this sort of stuff.
(Which I guess makes me a "Conservative Feminist", too.)
Maybe, although I'm hesitatant to say that, simply because IDK enough Men IRL to say something like that, and all of the Man and Boys that IK here certainly don't seem like the sort of people that my Sister says that Men are.
My Dad is probably one of the worst possible examples of so-called "Toxic Masculinity" (which is certainly Toxic, but I personally don't consider "Masculine"), but I doubt there are many people as mentally screwed up as him.
That being said, the presence of so-called "Boys Clubs" (by which I mean any predominantly or exclusively male group, with a misogynistic atmosphere) is a large part of the problem, and such groups are almost always places where women are abused or mistreated on an alarming scale.
(Just look at our Military, for example.)
Men are better than Women at certain things, such as inflicting Violence on others, but I'm not necessarily sure that's a good thing, personally.
Women, on the other hand, tend to show more compassion, are capable of producing Human Life (IK Men play a role, too, but Women are WAY more important when it comes to reproduction), and (generally speaking) are smarter than Men, and to think with their brains, rather than the other body parts Men think with far too often.
(Man, I'm sounding just like my Sister now, lol!)
I'm all for Mens Rights and stuff, too, but far too often so-called "Mens Rights Activists" just want the "right" to abuse and harass Women, which isn't "right", it's WRONG!
I mean my Dad has even defended Harvey Weinstein before (despite the fact that my is EXTREMELY Anti-Semitic), all based on this BS idea he concocted in that deranged head of his that all of the Women wanted to sleep with that creep, in order to further their careers.
(Then again, half the time there's a Woman on TV, he's whining about it, and calling her a "vagina".)
Anyway, sorry for the long-winded rant from a Bearded, Conservative, Male Feminist (and yes, I'm well aware of how weird that sounded), but I guess my point is that you might be right, but IDK enough about the real World yet to say for sure, myself.
(I certainly hope that you're wrong, though.)
