Well why does he insist not to be paid more, even when he could be? And obviously they wouldn't do it for free >.> Everybody gets paid for their job or nobody would work because they would freaking die. And calling somebody a god is not offensive, grow up.
The way I see it, of course they're in it for the money. What kind of incorporated business isn't? But they realize that in order to profit, they have to closely cater to their demographic's interests--the "fun factor", the little things that make games that much more enjoyable, innovation that feels natural, nostalgia even. Thus why Nintendo is and continues to financially flourish so much.
Shigeru Miyamoto is the guy who created mario donkey kong, zelda, nintendogs, etc, etc. And basically saved Nintendo from going bankrupt. And well.. he is just one person, but he's pretty much the most well-known one at Nintendo. Well, "Club Nintendo" is pretty nice of Nintendo to do, you register the games and answer a quick survey and you get virtual coins that you can use to order completely free things from the website (posters, ds cases, cards, game & watch games, bags, etc.) And if you get gold or platinum (300-599, or 600+ coins) you get a prize at the end of the "Nintendo year", So, that's pretty nice.. Microsoft or Sony doesn't have that as far as I know.. (How was I off topic? You mentioned it first. I said there's nothing offensive at all about calling somebody A god, A = key word Like you said, people have different beliefs. And based on that there really isn't anything wrong with calling somebody "god" either. So, like I said before, grow up, and stop bellyaching and pretending to be offended by nothing.)
@fundy When used as such, saying someone is 'a god' simply means they are very awesome.
Oh and Shigeru Miyamoto is the creator of Mario, Donkey Kong, The Legend of Zelda, Pikmin and Nintendogs. Likely the most famous person in the gaming industry, his Super Mario Bros. on the NES game saved gaming industry from collapse.
