To put it simple, people just don't listen anymore. Unless you tell them something they wan't to here. But yeah trying only leads to failing or success, hopefully in this circumstance it's success.

Ah no, restarting fresh on the BB's will only get back to the point we're at now. May as well just try to fix the "damaged state" they're in now.
Also, people will just only recreate all of the old deleted threads anyways. So what good would that do.
