No doubt, it did happen. The hack was confirmed by Valve a few days ago. It involved the attempted theft of credit card and other personal information through the service's forum system to intrude into further areas, so it had nothing to do with directly ruining any gaming/website experience. The damage is still uncertain right now.

When CC info gets stolen, it's so that unauthorised products can be purchased (and possibly resold); when most other private details get stolen, it's so that 1) said information can be sold to companies and 2) further information can be accessed and sold. The whole thing was about a group of people ultimately trying to steal money.

2nd: who in the right mind would put there card over the internet companies always claim its safe but there are ALWAYS loopholes. And i dont giva dang what they say ppl are gulliable just cuz it says terms, regulations or what ever is in bold theyll belevie it.
