Question i just though of while i was making this but with where statements do you make them like
where topic=$topic
or like this
where topic='$topic'
I dont care about the mysql_query stuff before it because i already know that i just need to know this.

another question i know how to insert the current timestamp thing to a database but i want to know how to make it a session. wouldnt it be like time() or something else

I'm not sure about making it a session. I think you'll have to probally use $_SESSION['time']=time();
