Regarding game problems

This board gets a lot of questions concerning what's going on with HullBreach Online's playability--and rightfully so. So instead of me channeling my inner broken record, perhaps a single thread will clear up some confusion.

Currently HullBreach Online is not working. The normal version does not allow one to log in because it is not accessing the account details it should be. The DS version allows logging in and character creation, but cannot access the characters for play. Thus, neither version is playable. HBO accounts use the same login as this website; creating a new account will not solve these problems. All accounts are unable to play the game, not some.

All we can really do is sit tight. The game has been down many times over the past few years, more often as of late. You can send queries to the Helpdesk just to let HullBreach know of the situation, but neither a fix nor a reply should be expected.

If any information changes, either it will be updated or this thread will be rendered obsolete. If there are any further questions regarding this subject, do ask. Hope this helps a little.

There is a version for Wii or PC--and while you can create a character with the mobile game, then switch to the main game, and move around somewhat--it doesn't work either.

The Lite version's back to form. Button interface slightly adjusted (likely) to accommodate the marginally larger 3DS browser, causing only minor visual gaffe for the DSi. Wii/PC version still sketchy.

Lite has menu problems, as in buttons and information not showing up. This is a new issue, to add upon the longstanding minor menu spillover.

The Wii game's problems have been solved...! Dashboard stats actually are shown, popup landing menu displays, and most importantly one's ship can now be maneuvered properly.

Lite's menu options are restored, and stat bars appear to recharge more fluidly. Zoom/map keys operable again on Wii, though gunning the "weapons" twice seems to freeze the game.

Lite: As most may know, missions are broken to the effect that credits are not received after completing a mission. This remains true *most* of the time. On rare occasions (and possibly given certain circumstances), the credits are received, confirmed by a completion message showing. I find it also a good sign when accepting a mission produces a message about it being added to your itinerary. I think the appearance (or lack thereof) of these messages is related to the page refreshing when reaching a location or navigating a menu. It may be that a script is running out of order or conflicting, thus producing issues. My recommendation is to keep memory low, be persistent, and try to remember the exact events leading up to a mission reward.

Lite:
Progress! A few things are now confirmed, being 1) the page auto-refreshing is in fact conflicting with mission completion, and 2) the ship's itinerary message is pedestrian--it always appears. Now after picking up the required cargo and crew, reaching your mission destination drops them off automatically. Then the page refreshes before the reward can be obtained, and you are left with an empty ship and no pay.

There is a silly way to workaround this: simply impede the refresh by stopping your browser before it finishes reloading. On DSi, quickly tap the stop/refresh button 3-4 times (last tap must be on X) right as your ship approaches the planet. However, this method is difficult and requires precise timing especially if one's internet connection speed is at least satisfactory. If your tapping was early, you end up on the planet with the mission still active, so you can try again by resetting location. And if late, you must return to pick up the mission again. Just right: you get the money and see "Mission completed." A note, I could not repeat my success until several attempts later. This strategy is not ideal but can be useful for diehards.

Lite: Another mission breakthrough. After transporting comissioned ores from the Lunar Colony to the Martian Community and successfully redeeming the reward, I received the message "2 missions completed." Firstly, this was either a new message or a longlost one to me, and secondly, questioning its legitimacy. An atypical tap count of 2 produced this, leading to the refresh coming anyway, therefore I doubt or remain unsure of the appearance of the "Mission completed" message. As of now, it is difficult to suggest it was incorrect due to limited variables. So assuming it was correct leads to several conclusions based on my experience: it does not represent missions completed during that session, it does not represent total missions completed, thus it likely represents missions completed for the particular original body's headhunter. The other way around, missions completed for the receiving body, is unlikely, as missions will focus on varying tasks (not just cargo shipment). So, the best next step lies in achieving the elusive numeric message again to test if its value changes.

Lite: An alternative to the quick-tapping technique explained above is holding down on the refresh and releasing just after the loading bar appears. As far as I can tell through limited testing, success rate does not seem improved. Still it is less distracting/frenetic, so it could potentially be more accurate.

One more thing discovered: the "Mission completed" message does not guarantee a reward--only a very good chance at one + a rare chance of winding up in orbit with the mission still active.

Lite: What seems to have arisen recently are irregular page reloads. It is a given that load time depends on server load and the client's internet connection. Yet it is common now for the game to flash the loading bar two or three times while reaching a location. This may help to improve the chance of landing mission loot due to more delay. Still, ending up with a white screen is a perennial bad signal and should be avoided as it gives no chance to reset.

Lite: As of now, load time has smoothed out, although the window of opportunity seems to have been reduced. So it is more difficult to pull off a complete mission. These things and previous notes lead me to the conclusion that such a hair's width sliver of timing is bound to be subject to the ups and downs of the server HullBreach Online uses.

"2 missions completed." It was over four months in the making, but I have finally reproduced this message! The circumstances were simple: travel to Lunar Colony, the page stalls reload, message appears, credits awarded (+30), crew set to -1, then the customary reload. All of this is enormously revealing. Because of this evidence, I can conclude that the two completed missions were 2x the one requiring you to transport a single vacationer to the Lunar Colony.

Proven by the sum of
1) the obvious mission endpoint
2) 30 creds / 2 = 15 creds
3) -1 crew = 1 crew - 2 crew
The third is very significant thanks to the visible negative integers glitch. 1 crew is the player myself, and the 2 subtracted crew is 1 vacationer disembarking for each mission. Of course, the value did readjust itself back to 0 when it reloaded.

Even that new knowledge pales in comparison to the fact that we now know missions can be indefinitely and cumulatively suspended in queue.

[Lite] On missions: one might expect that travelling to a location, exiting whilst en route inside the destination sector, then re-entering the game might load the location anew. Unfortunately, that isn't the case, proving that there is some disconnect between arrival and coming into contact with the location.

[Lite] I've been toying with a possible theory about the success of missions. With absolutely no use of the stop-and-go techniques, the rate of mission success seems to be much higher when one's internet connection is slow. My reasoning is that a slow data transfer means the page reload is slowed, giving enough margin to reward those credits. This info isn't amazingly helpful to the person with average internet speed, but it does shed light on what must be adjusted.
