I think it's pretty kul. Allows for more video game discussions, which is of course a good thing since a video game system is what the site seems to revolve around.
Thing I don't like, though, is how the pokemon forum (Or whatever the individual sections are called.) and the Nintendo forum are together. It makes sense since Pokemon is obviously a Nintendo game, but that section had over a thousand posts ALL about pokemon. It had a bunch of sticky'd threads, too, and that combined with the new Nintendo sticky'd thread makes for a lot. A ton of yellow. Not that big of a deal, but people don't like to look past the first thread list half the time. So while there's tons of sticky'd threads, the white ones seemed to be mostly just pokemon with a few about system problems and stuff.
I'd rather talk to guys about it before annoying help desk with a suggestion they might just ignore. Plus talking things over with the very people who interact with the BB seems like a good idea.
I originally placed this in the wrong section by mistake Sorry for any problems that might result from when I tried to fix it
Not majorly enthused with the new sections. There is some value in splitting up the gaming discussion for spacing and context, but I find it mostly overshadowed in light of the following.
1) Already, it is clear there are gaming boards that remain relatively...unused. More of these, on top of the pre-existing ones, can be harmful to forum activity.
2) Aside from the fact that there are more raw boards through which to browse, it seems stretched thin. Online denizens tend to have a very good sense of content versus veneer.
3) Unsure that having a much lengthier list is conducive toward getting people to use the forums. The premise of this website's Bulletin Boards is to provide a simple medium of discussion; the more additions and features it receives, the more it strays from that.
Ideally in my mind, the rarely used boards would be either deleted (with a tear) or merged, while Miscellaneous is the section deserving of a discriminating split.
Especially keeping in mind that there are some younger kids on this site and they do have a greater chance of getting confused with it and then don't post at all. More so if they over-think where things should be like I just did with these posts.
