I'm curious see see what a Jew would say to all of these, since these at all Jewish law. You forgot one of the most important laws:

"When you build a new house, make a parapet around your roof so that you may not bring the guilt of bloodshed on your house if someone falls from the roof."

For Christians, much of the old Jewish law does not apply. Jesus summed up the most important aspects as this (Matthew 22):

34 Hearing that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees, the Pharisees got together. 35 One of them, an expert in the law, tested him with this question: 36 “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”

37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’[c] 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’[d] 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”

Well I don`t think this really goes with this, but it kina does. well because I`m straight... And this goes to anyone else who is straight, we really can`t judge being gay/lesbian because we ourselves haven`t done it. But on the other hand, it doesn`t make it okay, but at the end of the day, it aint about what gender you like. Its about the gift of life, that we`ve been given

I have a big problem with today's court ruling. Before you jump at me and scream obscenities, let me explain why:

The United States was founded as a Constitutional Federal Republic. What this means is there exists a governing document that establishes a small central government and leaves all non-enumerated powers to the states to decide.

By taking it upon themselves to interpret non-enumerated powers through the lens of the 14th Amendment (which was meant for equality of the newly-freed slaves), they are trampling the 10th Amendment (states' rights) and causing a slippery slope with the 1st Amendment (specifically freedoms of religion and speech).

I believe that the "correct" decision would have been to invoke the 10th Amendment to determine that the States shall decide the law on their own. The end result of this would be that any states who passed laws through direct elections or through their legislatures would stand, and any states that had determinations through the court system would be overturned.

I believe that many states would take such an opportunity to determine that it is time to remove government from the "business" of marriage (such as Oklahoma) and leave it in the hands of clergy. Government's "business", due to the premise of separation of Church and State, should be to handle civil unions and civil contracts only. Therefore, if people differ on beliefs of marriage, then there is no conflict. At the religious level, marriage continues as it has, and at the civil level, consenting adults can form a civil contract recognized by government for purposes of inheritance, taxation, etc.. Government's only "business" in marriage is control of the populace for tax purposes, and they will be able to keep their grubby hands on the populace in this manner, as well.

We have seen a great deal of vitriol spread by politicians and media over the past few years concerning the definition of marriage (and just about every other topic, no matter the importance). They do this to divide-and-conquer. It is important to keep this in mind because "A kingdom divided against itself cannot stand". Be tolerant and respectful of those around you - even if you disagree with their beliefs - because we will all suffer if we remain divided.

Same sex marriage is not that big a deal in my opinion. I don't understand why it is such a big deal. Besides the fact that the Bible says it's wrong, where as the Bible also says some pretty crazy things. Same sex marriage is not a big deal at all in my opinion. I am openly bisexual and have been for almost a decade.

I have a different argument. Abolish marriage all together. It's a dated practice started to guarantee that a woman was seen as a man's property when he wanted her to bear her children. Now, it's a way that gives some people tax benefits and gives others tax "oh gosh maybe we shouldn't have gotten married that actually made our taxes go up".

Yeah it probably is too radical. But it seems more sane to me than people who are against gay marriage.

I don't really mind honestly.

Not having the government involved in marriage complicates things like taxes and insurance. Having it logged with the government that a couple is married prevents people from getting married to multiple people across different jurisdictions. It also makes it easier for someone to find out if someone is committing a scam related to lying about being married.

Just having it being in the books of an individual church makes it more difficult to verify if someone is really married or not.

Many hospitals only allow you into intensive care for your loved one if you're married or a parent/guardian to that individual.
