Hitman absolution is has a good combination of both. The game rates you by how you tackle the mission. You can choose to be the silent assassin or the brute. The choice is yours.
As far as shooters, I find it habitual to set the game on its hardest difficulty or just find a game where getting riddled with bullets actually means 'game over'. The red mist motif is rather scoffable. My gameplay tendency is pretty much always to hug elements of cover, slink around, and rarely test the strength of one's Kevlar.
