No matter how secure or private a website may claim to be, the internet is still the internet. Everything you do on it--browse, enter personal details, create content, whatever--you do at your own risk. Obviously some sites present higher risk. That these governments attempted to discreetly request all that information probably is less a testament to their collective ineptitude than it is to underhanded efficiency. The United Nations considers internet access a basic human right now, so surely they put this into consideration?
