OverlorDS is scheduled for release at the end of the month. Thus, we are one week from the big launch party. Similar to my series leading to the release of the PvP demo for TMJ, I will post daily summaries of progress on OverlorDS.
Tonight I finished the title screen and have most of the campaign select screen interface finished. The character class select screen is mostly built out.
Tomorrow, I plan on finishing the character class select screen and the load screen. I will also add campaign deletions to free space. (The game has 4 save slots, one for each character class.)
Most of the game interface has been created already. During this upcoming week, most of the focus will be on creating the backend to allow players to fight each other and allow members to take on missions and purchase items.
Today I created the game select screen. I still need to finished the game deletion option, but a game can now be entered by clicking on the menu choice.
I also created the class selection screen when creating a new game. I still have to make the unlockable character selection, but that is a minor issue.
The top screen now shows character stats, as well.
The Updates (new) screen is ready to go. That puts it along with Help and Exit as being finished.
Tomorrow, I will work some more on the menus and build out the Actions (mission) page so that individual actions can be undertaken. Also, I need to build out the regeneration.
The game is on track for a mid week completion. That will give a few days for testing and adding more content.
Today I created the Actions portion of the game, including random loot drops. The Shop is also in place, allow players to regenerate or augment certain stats.
Regeneration of stats works by adding 1 to each rechargeable stat per 5 minutes of inactivity.
Tomorrow, I will work on the expanded Stats screen and the Leaders screen. That will just leave the page for arguing with other members or NPCs for site rep.
I created the Leaders page tonight. It shows the top 5 characters, sorted by Awesome Points.
The Stats page and the Defend page are partially finished. I've set up the Defend page to randomly mix in NPCs with live players for the battling. Battles will earn Awesome Points but potentially lose Site Rep. That gives some uncertainty and randomness to the game.
Most of the game will be finished tomorrow night. I will be working with a few members to add content. Final testing will take place Thursday, leading to the release.
Last night, I finished a beta version of the game engine. The concentration for the next few days will now be balancing the stats for content. That includes Actions, NPCs for battles, Shop items, and levelling.
Over the last few nights, I've been adding content to the game while some of the admins test out the game. We've been making sure stats are balanced to keep the game enjoyable.
Tonight is the big night!
I'm leaving this thread open now that the game is ready.
