The Wake Trilogy-Wake, Fade, and Gone-(probably best for mature teens) by Lisa McMann, The Maximum Ride series by James Patterson, and the Hunger Games series(first book of the series will make its movie premier in March) by Suzanne Collins.
two books you must cover are The Hobbit by JRR Tolkein and Soldier Boys by uh... i forgot. Theyre bolf great books but the 2nd i dont think 3 year olds should be reading because of the ww2 gore n stuff described in the book. the book has some gore and stuff that may not be suitable for 5 year olds so yea.
Oh and heres a few others I read recently: The Henderson's boys series. Its set in the 1940s around WWII, so far 4 books hve been released, the latest being 'Grey Wolves'. Its about a british spy called Charles Henderson, who recruits orphaned teenagers which he trains to work as undercover spies.
They're good, a bit graphic though.
13+.
I have to say for the older and more advanced readers, some of Christopher Pike's books would actually be a good choice. I'm halfway through a series of his called Thirst (13+[depending on reading level]), but he has books for more mature readers like The Secret Passage. He is more graphic and detailed, so I suggest younger children should stay away from his books.
