When I try to put two dots on the canvas the first dot I put drew over to the second dot. How do I fix this?

Here was my problem: When I would try to draw something like a equals sign, when I would start to make the second line, It would make a line ITSELF connecting the 2 lines together WHICH I DID NOT WANT.
