Now for your final lesson (on stats)": Individual Values or IVs. This one is both easy and hard. IVs are another hidden stat like EVs. One big difference is that 1 IVs = 1 Stat Point (calculated at Lv100). Easy, right?
Now here's the hard part. Every time you catch or hatch a Pokemon, their IVs are randomly generated for each stat. IVs can be between 0-31, with 31 being highest possible. So, if you want to maximize a stat, make sure has perfect IVs (aka 31IVs of that stat).
Here's another hard part. Finding out if that stat has perfect IVs. In modern Pokemon games, there's an IV Judge that will kind of tell you which stats have perfect IVs. I think for Sword and Shield, you have to reach Rank 4 in Battle Tower or something.
One last thing. One way to get perfect IVs on every stat (also known as 6IV) is to breed the Pokemon with a 6IV Ditto while holding a Destiny Knot. Ditto can breed with almost every Pokemon. Some sites like Reddit make and give away 6IV Dittos. These are hacked Dittos but you can breed legit Pokemon from them.
