252 EVs / 4 = 63 stat points. That's how many points you can gain on a single stat. Do note this all calculated at Lv100. It's about half of that at Lv50.

But... if you're calculating EVs, assume the Pokemon is Lv100.

Alright, Acid. Since you know about Natures now, I'm going to teach you something a bit harder: EVs. EVs stand for Effort Values. Every time you beat a Pokemon and gain exp from it, you also gain EVs of a specific stat. For example, every time you beat a Zigzagoon, you also get 1 Speed EV. What's the big deal with EVs? Well, for every 4 EVs of a stat, you gain 1 stat point. For example, beat 4 Zigzagoons and you gained 4 HP EVs. Those 4 HP EVs get turned into 1 HP. Congrats. Your Pokemon now has 1 extra HP. There is a limit on how many EVs you can have. You can have a total of 510 EVs on a single Pokemon (regardless how the EVs are distributed) and 252 EVs on a stat. If you get 252 EVs on a stat, you can gain more EVs on another stat as long as your total EVs are not 510.
