Since many people in the chatrooms and on TWiiter have been inquiring, I thought I would give an update as to the status of TMJ...
Over the past several weeks, much of the focus has been on developing the storyline and setting of the game. We can create all the tech demos we want, but without a strong storyline, any RPG will fall flat on its face.
Leading up to the launch of the game, we will release some backstories and other content to give a taste of the atmosphere the game world of Midgard is meant to portray. I hope to have a few stories, some concept artwork, and the alphabet used in the game world, all available by the end of the year.
With the new shift in direction the team has been taking lately, we will not have the planned demo available at the end of this month. We will shoot for the end of the year, still focusing on the battle engine.
We are good on team members for story development and the game engine, but we could use help in the art department.
Kefka Palazzo has created all the sprites thus far (besides a few added expressions for Jasper) and has been working on a tutorial to help other artists learn to make sprites of the same style.
Both Kefka Palazzo and Elite PKMN have made level tiles, but I'm sure they would not object to having some help there.
One area where we could use a lot of help is enemy sprites for the battles.
Another area needing help is animation cels to be used in the cinema sequences. If anyone can draw in a style like the intro to Wind Waker, let me know. Any black and white medium is fine. I will add the parchment texture and slight coloration in post-production.
you could also check out runescape where it has quests and different levels of a battle arena [wild] maby even make a computer game of it like world of warcraft
look up the game castle crashers the graphics ok but the plot fun, my point maby borrow some ideas like a level select screen and custamisable characters, maby some cheat codes and markets, plus a online game with mini games, put that in the right format and strike a deal with nitendo or microsoft and BOOM your makein serius cash and dont forget ipods and your loyal dsi owners
mygamebuilder.com/forum has tons of ideas! I am not advertising but this is a really good site with fresh ideas that could be implimented in thid game but not on the mygamebuilder engine. Also, my best art is here and there is also tresko3, shakeandbake, azuerehaze, dr.b, and many more great people who is good at sprites have all postedtheir art here! Please go on!
okay i just want to see if u done this, did u finish with the types of attacks, weapons, and defence because ppl enjoy variety [ at least at my point] XD

2)@ slick. dude,turn off the caps, youre giving me a headache.
if you wantto draw attension make ONE word all caps, then space everything out nicely with nice punctuation, you'll be surised how much more attension you'll get, rather than gettingbskipped completely.
3)i think you need to make a "volunteers" blog and a "suggestions" blog (to make everyone happy)
hmmmm, maybee we could have a friend list and if they r online than you could summon them?could have animal(fantisy)following us around?i like to draw animals(dragons,moogle and cats).i think there should be a demon race(cat feature-dragon features-fox.)
tell me your class system and if it crap try this. here are my class ideas. 1.Gunner: dual weild guns and handcannons. 2.Slayer:use Swords and bows 3. Mage: use mage and the same weapons as a rogue and staff. 4.Rogue: use swords and draggers. 5.Warriors: can use anything. 6.Dragonknight: use spears.this is more but i can tell you late. then you can choose what path they can take but it will not change game play so if you want to go holy with two of your charater then go dark on two you can do that. i will post one more when i get more ideas

OK HULL. THATS ATUALLY PRETTY GOOD. I DIDNT KNOW IT WAS COMPLETE, I THOUGHT YOU HAD ONLY BEEN WORKING ON THE STORY. BUT WHAT ABOUT THE CHARACTER STATS?
THIS IS HOW I THINK IT SHOULD BE
EACH CHARACTER SHOULD BE A DIFFERENT RACE, LIKE A MAGE, HUMAN, HUNTER, WARLORD, ROBOTS, ETC... EACH ONE HAS A SPECIALTY LIKE THE HUNTER WOULD BE AN EXPERTISE WITH SWORDS AND SPEARS AND A WARLORDS ATTACK STATS WITH GUNS AND CANNONS WOULD BE HIGH TOO. BUT A HUNTER USING THINGS LIKE MAGIK WOULD BE EXTREMELY WEAK. HERES AN EXAMPLE OF HOW IT COULD WORK:
Mage Specialty Magik/and Wand Weapons.
Attack with Specialties: 200
Attack with non specialties: 120
Warlord Specialties: Handguns/Rifles/Cannons
Attack with specialties: 210
Attack with non specialties: 112
IF YOU WOULD LIKE, I CAN CREATE FOR YOU ALL OF THE WEAPONS, CHARACTER STATS, AND MAYBE RACES(IF THEY HAVENT BEEN DECIDED YET). I WOULD LOVE TO HELP.
Ok, to add further complication - please can you make the screen only fit on the top or the bottom (so it only fills one screen). This is because if you hold 'L'or left my DSi jumps everywhere!
A diffrent way around this is to have the top showing the game and the bottom could have all the controls all done by stylus, and to have the option to control by holding down 'L' and controling.
I agree with the stats comment, but think it should be like this:
Clases 1.) Mage (Wizard / Witch)
2.) Healer (Uses prayers)
3.) Fighter (Uses weapons)
4.) All rounder (Uses everything)
Stats 1.) Manga ( Wizard points)
2.) Prayer Power (How prayer work)
3.) Exp (Used to level up)
4.) Health
5.) Defence
6.) Strengh
If all of these things were put in along with a "freind list" the game would benifit!

THATS AN IMPORTANT PART OF AN RPG. THE STATS OF A CHARACTER ARE ALSO MUCH MORE IMPORTANT. WITHOUT THAT SYSTEM, THE RPG IS NOTHING! IM AN EXPERT ON ALL THAT STUFF. LETS SAY A CHARACTER IN THE GAME IS A WIZARD OR MAGE, THEY USE A LOT OF SPELLS AND STUFF RIGHT? AND THEY RARLEY USE WEAPONS. AND THE SPELLS USE UP THEIR PP OR WATEVER YOUR GONNA CALL IT (ENERGY?)(CHAKRA?). SO THEY SHOULD HAVE MORE PP THEN OTHER CHARACTERS. IF THEIR PROFFESION IS MAGICK, THEN THEIR ATTACK WITH MAGICK SHOULD BE MORE THEN THEIR ATTACK WITH WEAPONS. THATS HOW THINGS SHOULD WORK. ALSO THE EXPIRIENCE SYSTEM. YOU HAVE TO FIGURE OT HOW MUCH EX IS NEEDED TO GET THAT CHARACTER FROM THE START OF LEVEL 1 TO LEVEL 2. THEN WITH EVERY LEVEL THEY GAIN, THE AMOUNT OF EXPIRIENCE NEEDED TO GET TO ANOTHER LEVEL MUST RISE. YOU ALSO MUST FIGURE OUT HOW MUCH THE STATS WILL RISE BY. LETS SAY YOUR MAGE IS LEVEL 1 WITH 120 ATACK AND 120 DEFENSE, WEN IT LEVELS UP AND REACHES 2 THE ATTACK AND DEFENSE CAN RISE BY 2 OR 3. BUT YOU ALSO MUST NOT KEEP THE AMOUNT IT RISES BY THE SAME FOR EVERY LEVEL. SO LIKE WAT I WOULD DO IS AFTER EVERY 5TH LEVEL THE AMOUNT IT RISES BY INCREASES BY 1 OR 2. SO IF ITS LVL 1 AND IT LVS UP TO 2 THE ATACK RISES BY 2 BUT ONCE IT REACHES LEVEL 5 THE AMOUNT IT RISES BY CHANGES TO 3 AND WEN IT GETS TO 10 ITS 4 ETC... I NEED TO TALK TO U ABOUT THIS!
I heard that there was going to be PVP arena(player vs player)is this true? if it is would there be players vs enviroment(or PVE except players not player)?Would there be trading items,and etc with other people?Pls message me with the answers.thank you.
