(insert name here)'s Banning rule blogs. They have been popping up every where. Some people approve of these, some people kissing up to admins pretending to approve of these blogs, and some people think they are a simple waste of time. I, would be part of the 3rd group. Here are MY reasons why these are a waste of time.
-Your own, PERSONAL, rules.
What's the point of making up your own rule? Not many people follow the real rules, let alone are gonna follow some rule you declared on your blog. Many of the made up rules reflect personal problems, and simple opinions. A big one I saw was no violent role playing. Oh my gosh. Seriously? If violent role playing was against the law in the real world, a huge fraction of the video game industry would be losing A TON of money. A game hullbreach made, was a MMORPG. Massive Multiplayer Online ROLE PLAYING Game. So who's to say no one can do it here?
-The obvious rules
Many admins are posting rules that are simple no brainers. Ex, f-bombs, spamming, vulgar behavior, you get the idea. Admins, ask yourselves this, what's the point of reposting the rules page for everybody on your rule declaration blog? Even newbs (not noobs, they're different), know these rules. We don't need 10 billion more lessons on it from our admins..
Honestly, I could rant on and on, but this blog will be trolled on enough at it is.
This is not intended to offend anybody or their 'ban beliefs' but I just needed to get this off my chest..
Troll all about this. Cause I don't care. It's my opinion, deal with it.
Yes, I totally agree. Some admins ban you for some rule of their own in a blog they wrote you didn't follow. A bunch of people haven't read their blog. It just annoys me...
Not trying to offend anyone.
I totally agree on the RP part. It's not like it's actually happening. I've read a banning blog reason thingy and the admin (not sayin' who) said he/she will ban for violent RP be because stuff like that happens in real life blah blah blah......Anyways, if they are rp, that must mean both the people are doing it and playin' around. I don't see how it could offend anyone. I mean, it's just for gods sake!! So yea. Admins who ban for violent RP should re-write their list and take that one off.
Just sayin'

I also agree with this blog, we don't need a bunch of blogs listing the Admin's traumas, and why we ought to be banned due to such traumas. If we offend you in some way, please, Warn us. It's more reasonable, in most cases.[I understand extreme swearing, such as f-bombs, but that is seriously rediculous thing to be called a discretion.]
Violent Roleplaying. That's an issue overstressed by many admins. If another member is offended by the actions depicted in a roleplay then an admin would have to ask it to stop. No, not insta-ban them. Admins, it "offends" you? No "offence" but toughen up. You should be able to handle it.
There needs to be a few main rules, like the cussing and violence. But I'm all for discretions. Different things offend different people, while I disagree with some of the ban reasons lately.
It's mainly a matter of good judgement. And I think that's one of the reasons HB likes to keep it our own discretions. If it isn't, it should be. Maybe the whole reason is to exercise judgement. That could also be why a lot of the later admins are so young.
This is just my theory. It may or may not be true.
(Please don't flame me if you disagree. This is only my thoughts. Not a new comment topic.)
yea... the rule blogs got boring after a while and since one person does it i dont think everyone elese shud follow just cuz they can. So i agree with this hands down.
Hey hate the Admin personal rules blogs! It's stupid! There should be a unified set of rules that admins must follow and not mess with on their own accord!
I am a Great role player in MMORPGs, some people play to be the strongest, some people look for momey in the game, but i just Role play for me.
It is not very different here, since we can perform actions between *'s
*shakes head*
I see no problem with violent role play IF the role players are not using offensive words.
Some admins have "personal" rules reflected to its real life problems and experiences, Now tell me, is bringing your own personal problems considered a professional act?
Admins here are members like Everyone else, but when doing their JOBS They must be professionals.
I really think the site needed a page ONLY for rules, because admins do what they want, i am not saying they do, are doing, or did the bad, but it always happens when lacking of Fixed rules
