As many of you know, Graphics are an essential in any game. Naturally, you can't have a game w/out Graphics. However, Gameplay, is just as important. You can't do anything if all you have are buttons that don't relay a command. So, which is more important? Personally, I would say Gameplay, as, that is the core structure of which everything else is built upon. Even Flash Games have great Gameplay most of the time.
Example; Pokémon Gen I-II Vs. Halo Series
[I'm merely talking Graphics Vs. Gameplay, not Genre Vs. Genre. Complaints can be forwarded to 1-847-NO-DAMN-GIVEN(663-2664-4836)
From what I hear, [and have experienced,] the Halo series is a very interesting one, and quite unique, once past the annoying FPS-Factor. It kinda reminds me of Metroid, in a way. However, it wasn't entirely unique. When you look at Pokémon, back in 1995, it was incredibly new and unique. A game where you command different little critters, and the fact you had to catch 'em all[151 being a rather easy feat at the time] made it even more interesting, since you had to connect wit others. Now, the Graphics were, well... Someone today would ask me why I'm hunched over with an over-sized Blue Cell-Phone.[GBC FTW.]
It is, it's on the majority of Windows Laptops. Only a few people I know some how use it without shooting the computer, then themselves. However, the computer lags up on the "dying" process, so the user dies first. Har har.
Oh, sorry, i get it now XP.
Bit.Trip Beat its available on steam for like... 20$?....
last time i checked about bit.trip beat on an iphone, it was 1$....
Gameplay definitely supercedes graphics in determining a game's worth. There are plenty of good looking, crap games on HD consoles, despite the enhanced graphics.
Basically, while graphics can enhance or detract from a game, they themselves cannot make a game good.
Pong?.
Bit.Trip Beat and Bit.Trip Flux feature a Pong-ish gameplay of epic epicness...
the better example of Graphics+Gameplay :3
(the 6 games of the bit.trip series are only available for wii ware, and the systems of the chewed apple)
Again, it was the first examples that came. As stated below, I prob should have bashed CoD, since I prefer Halo anyway over it.
Regarding the image, I couldn't find anything but fan art, so shut up. I almost put the "Halo Coffee Break" image just to spite the hell out of you. Just bear with me.
whether it's the story, multiplayer, options, whatever, Halo > Pokemon (but gold, silver, crystal, hg, and ss... there's gonna be a problem on deciding)
Minecraft is a very good example, everything is 8-bit graphics, but it doesn't matter because the gameplay is so awesome. On all my games I normally have the graphics options set to min because of my craptop anyway so yeah :p
A great example of a gamme is FF7. Made in the 1990's, it has literally blocks for graphics, but the storyline/gameplay is so awesome and epic, you actually think blockish graphics looks awesome!
I'd rather get a 3DS, or, if I want to go with Home Consoles, 360... But, I'm a Ninty fan, and free connectivity[Miis, Messaging, such] make the 3DS more worth it...
