"I know you're not firing that thing at me!" Jezzroy started trying to wriggle out of the things that were holding him to the wall.
"Ah, but we are! In fact, we just wanted you to sweat a little while!" the scientist started pressing buttons and throwing switches and the psionic ray-gun started to charge.
Jezzroy froze, then decided on something. I can use those powers to escape! he thought, and relaxed.
The ray-gun fired, and Jezzroy was blinded by the light it gave off, but his vision cleared in seconds. Already he felt energy surge through him.
"I'm outta here!" Jezzroy declared, and used his new powers to break free of the wall. He noticed he was running faster than normal, and picked up the pace, hoping it would get him to the door before any troops arrive. He was stopped by a pair of Tesla Troopers.
"Wow, what a shocking surprise!" Jezzroy quipped. "Too bad, I'm on full battery!"
One of the troopers fired his electrical weapon at him, which he dodged.
"Listen, I'd love to stay and chat, but I have a date with my girlfriend!" Jezzroy focused his energy on picking up and throwing the Tesla Troopers into the door, smashing it to splinters.
"So long, Soviet Union!" Jezzroy called over his shoulder, and dashed out the door.

Cassie was walking through the city. Ever since Jezzroy was taken away, his parting words kept her hopeful. If she was giving up, she showed no sign of such.
She noticed a homeless boy sitting on the curb. As the boy was lifting small stones with seemingly nothing, she grew interested.
Just then, something was coming toward her at high speed. "Cassie!" it called. She recognized the voice: It was Jezzroy.
Jezzroy skidded to a halt in front of her. Smiling, he said "Got back a little sooner than I had expected."
Cassie smiled as well, and the two hugged. "How did you run so fast?" she asked, after a brief silence.
"It's my new powers. Somehow they gave me superhuman speed. I ran straight across the ocean!" he said.
