Hello everyone, Seth here. Today, I will review one of the most famous PC games, Starcraft. Yes, I know, "STRCRFT 2 IS AAAAY BETER". But I like to keep with the classics. Please bear with me whilst I explain the long, complicated universe of Starcraft.
Starcraft....a game way ahead of it's time. Takes place around 200 years from now. Aliens, battleships, and invisible Templars await you in this game. In Starcraft, there are three factions.
-Terran. Formally known as the humans, they wield different types of weaponry. From Goliaths to Battlecruisers, Terrans are formidable when used properly.
-The Zerg. Popuarly known as just "slimy aliens", Zerg use completely biological units to destroy enemies. Drooling Hydralisks and Visicous looking Zerglings await you.
-The Protoss. This force is the high tech, alien superforms. They are far advanced, az they are equipped with shields. They can produce invisible units, and even a unit that makes others invisible!
Gameplay is fast-paced. You control units from birds-eye view. First, you start off with:
A: Command Center (Terran)
B:Nexus (Protoss)
C: Hatchery (Zerg)
And you start off with some gathering units. (SCV's/Probes/Drones) these guys collect minerals/gas and brings it back to your (for example) Nexus. You use these minerals as currency.
How do you produce warriors? Well, you must construct a building for the unit! For example, Gateways make Zealots, Dragoons, High/Dark Templars. Some units require certain structures to br made. Like a High Templar requires a Templar Archive. And some structures upgrade your units. In a future blog, I will explain the tech tree for all three factions.
Now, you're mission is to destroy all of the players on the map. Your tools of destruction are the units you create. You must use strategy, rathe than blunt force, to win. For example, instead of plunging all of your units toward the enemy base, you could instead lead them behind the base, or use a distraction force. There are millions of ways to play Starcraft.
Now, im not done with this review. In my next blog, I will explain the units fir the Terran. Stay tuned!
