As many of us know, we have several reoccurring problems here in the SDK community. Oh, I mean glitches with the badges and such, right? No, I mean user oriented problems. There are several of these problems, but several seem to stem from one unifying act: spam. For those who message other users a lot, you are likely annoyed by the aforementioned alert spam. For the frequent Bulletin Board users *coughLimxzerocough*, you might have noticed the beginnings of a more subtle spamming, double posting. I've a couple handfuls of users who have been consistently posting several times in a row (and a few towards the extreme end). At times, I know that one can accidentally make a post without some information that they forgot to include and that it happens sometimes, which is okay. But if in every thread you post in or create has you posting several times consecutively every time you post, you begin to appear as someone who is merely attempting to up their post count to earn a higher Posting Badge. Consecutive posts are generally frowned upon on this community's Bulletin Boards, as well as many other s on the 'Net. It is courteous to allow other users to voice there opinions too.
eh, I figure it's a good idea to link to the "Bulletin Boards Rules and Info" thread; I'm sure this is the first time some of you have read that thread.
There have been quite a few rants this past week. That isn't necessarily a problem, just hoping people don't try to start catching the rant wave. I do enjoy the majority of rants I've read.
And for those who are arguing their point(s), be sure not to employ ad hominem (or ad feminam o.o ) logical fallacies.
Lastly, I'd like to make a recommendation for those review games. Perspective. When reviewing a somewhat old game, perspective when reviewing it is key and helps to reinforce your writer's integrity. Comparing games of different eras is what I like to call the Argument Padder. In order to complain about the failings of an older game, some reviewers (not just here) will compare the game with some newer game. One must take in to account the substantial technological differences and advancements present between each generation. Older games were extremely limited with what they could do in comparison to what can be done these days, which is why complimenting those that hold up well even today is such a joy (at least to me).
Just a recommendation from me, as yes I do realize everyone has their own style of reviewing.
Instead about whining about all day, how about we take action? Comment on th spammer's profile suggesting that they don't spam. Or the more funnier way, mail them the Rules and Regualtions thread. We can't just keep ranting about this. It won't change unless we change.
Emblem- Not reading the blog's body OR comments, and STILL voting down? Tsk.
He said that Lim frequently uses the BB's, so he knows what he means. That was explained only five comments down.
@Ici: -.-... he said, that Limxzero is a frequent user of the BBs, and that he's the one somewhat agitated with it. I personally don't have a pole up my ass about such a tiny issue, but I do see his point. I still frown upon spamming, though.
I tend to enjoy starting the Rant-Wave.
And thank you for that final word on the Reviews. Perspective is key, as you said. It's like comparing Metroid for NES to Halo: Reach. -.-
@Iciownu I have no idea what you're reading. All I said was Limxzero is a frequent Bulletin Board user, considering he has the highest post count on the site. Read before down-voting someone's blog please.
