As the team departed for the coast, a certain prescence watched them from the shadows. That prescence was Steve, the stalker.
"So that boy shes with is taking a whole team with him someplace," Steve observed. "I'll follow them and find out what's up. When I do, then I'll stop it, and Cassie will be mine this day!"

"Do you know where the first Emerald is?" asked Shadow. The team had arrived at Virginia Beach.
"I think so. I saw something glowing over there, before I was kidnapped by the Soviets," Jezzroy replied.
"What if it's not there now?" Raxnent asked.
"Then we'll soon find out," Cassie said.
They went to the spot Jezzroy indicated as the spot where he saw the glow. Shadow dug into the sand and found a glowing cyan gemstone.
"That's a Chaos Emerald, alright!" Jezzroy exclaimed.
"And you're not keeping it!"
Jezzroy and the others spun around to see a man with a golden sword, along with three Tesla troopers behind him.
"What is it with you guys and those metalheads?" Jezzroy asked in annoyance. "And who are you?"
"I am Daga, commander and assassin of the Soviet Union," the man with the golden sword said. "And you are dead."
"Not yet, commander. You'll have to catch me first!" Jezzroy declared. "Scatter, team! Don't let them get this Emerald!"
The team went in every direction, passing the Chaos Emerald back and forth.
"Enough of this!" Daga said after five minutes. "Troopers, vaporize the girl!"
Cassie had the Emerald.
"Cassie! Use Chaos Control, quick!" Jezzroy called.
"How?!" Cassie couldn't think straight as the Tesla coils on the troopers' arms were being aimed at her.
"Use the Emerald's powers and say 'Chaos Control'! It'll work!" Jezzroy called back.
Cassie, at the point of trying anything, did so. "Chaos Control!!"
The Tesla troopers fired at that second, their electric arcs striking the Chaos Emerald. A wave of energy went through Cassie as the Chaos Control mingled with the electric current.
