NaNoWriMo, or National Novel Writing Month, is a very fun writing competition which takes place every year in November.
The goal is simple: You must challenge yourself to write an entire novel by the end of November. You set your own word-count. You could choose 10,000, 50,000, or even 100,000. Whatever you find most achievable.
The idea is to put quantity before quality. Nobody gives two hoots whether your novel is good, all they want to know is whether it's finished. You start at the beginning of November, write like a crazed lemur for the next month, and if you did well, you'll have something good to put on your CV, not to mention huge bragging rights.
And for all the months that aren't November, the site has some brilliant writing forums, tips, and advice from published authors.
There's a site for younger people, about 16 and under, or you can go for the older one. I think the older one has a minimum word-count of 50,000 though, which is fine for me but might be too much for others.
So yeah, see if you can take part this year and write the next bestseller
Oh right, because the users who down vote this are illiterate morons who find things like this "2 hrd."
On topic: I would give this a go, but I'm far too busy to do this. Between work, school, trying to get some sleep, and trying to maintain some aspect of a social life, I can't do this.
