Is our Government protecting US?

Separation of Church and State, Common Good and Civic Virtue.

The United States Of America's 1st Amendment of the constitution states, "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of ithe press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances." 

My interpretation of this is that any type of Church or religion can influence the Government. I believe that everyone has there own thoughts and feelings, but when it comes down to serving the common good, all of your personal feelings and thoughts should subside. 

Leaders of Government and leaders of the state are elected to office by the common good and there fellow citizens. The reason why Senators and other leaders have to live in the US and/or a certain state is so that they KNOW what the people want, and not what they want. Everyone has lost sight on the real needs of Government.  

It's healthy and normal to disagree with one another on views on government and politics and how things should be run. It should Never get to a point where the government  ALMOST shut down. There should never be a Point where governors or representatives take action without keeping there states Common good 1010% in the picture. 

Our government needs to read up some more on our Founders, Thomas Hobes, John Locke, and civic virtue.

who else here has seen Team America: World Police. We really aren't very popular with other countries because of our interventions with the claim of protecting the world. We jump in when we're not wanted. When other countries have a change in government drawing near, we jump in to make sure that we still have some power over there. We're not really considered the knight in shining armor, and most countries just want US out.

Look around you people. America is no diffrent than any countries really. We think we are free, we think we have some power, but at the end of the road, we hardly control our lives. Just think it over a bit. Sure we get some little luxuries than other countries but are basicly rule by our government. Ik, its a little off topic but still, just take a second to relize.

No offense, but you need to check your grammar and spelling. When discussing something like politics, especially at a young age, it's important to keep grammar likewise. Incorrect uses of "there" and "their" as well as some typos do not help convey your message.

Thing is, if we hadn't been bombed during WWII, we would have never really gotten ourselves involved. The U.S. pretty much didn't care about what was going on overseas. We started caring once we got bombed though. And even then, Japan was our primary focus. We just sort of got absorbed in to everything else.

No, we're bullies. We put ourselves in situations that should not involve us. We try to "rebuild" governments we've overthrown and make them the same as ours. Most other countries hate us because we're ignorant bullies.

He meant Locke. That's why he mentioned Hobbes as well. We basically took their ideas and mixed them together to create the U.S. constitution.

True, but then again, there is a flaw to any type of foreign policy. If we went isolationist again, we'd have the animosity of many countries, not to mention we'd have to localize many things we've outsourced (which I think is something that could be good). If we keep on as we have, things will likely keep on their downward trend. :U

We increasingly speeding towards a point of no return, and once that point is crossed, people will be outraged that nothing was done to prevent it, when they perpetuated it and ignored the warning signs. I hope I'm wrong, but the government and the public doesn't give me much hope. =/

Please if you know what your talking about show me how anythings the "Goverments fault". The great good is OUR peace of mind i.e beliefs! Im not religous, but you can't subside peoples beliefs. As I stated before, the greater good is us.If your so fixed on our founders look up laisez-faire: let the [people] do. Its a French term you'll learn in your social studies class. Yes I mispelt it and yes I made a couple of spelling errors. Who does'nt though.

The US is screwed more ways in one, basicly the whole world is.

Not just for schools, but the whole country! Search american democracy in China and its blocked. It pisses me off when people whom don't know what they are talking about put out information. If you could run the country better, why don't you run? Its not the Goverments fault, its ours, everyone shares the blame.
