Hey everyone. Yes, I'm Red Mist. I haven't gone anywhere. First off, I wanted to apologize to my rudeness towards those that were trying to make me feel better about the whole admin situation. I did realize I wasn't chatting enough, now I've realized why half the admin list been cleaned up. I thought it was a good move by the overlords. Once again I do apologize to those that I was mean to, if you ever need somebody to talk to, I'm a message away or I could be found on [a= https://www.facebook.com/smashmaster.red]Facebook![/a] (I still remember tags... awesome...)
Anyways, I'm writing this because I'm a little bit worried about our community but I'm still confident and have high hopes for it still...
The chatrooms are DEAD..
Yes, I said it. I was on the DSiPaint Facebook page lurking and defending it. All of the old users from 2009-2011 made some pretty good points about why the chatrooms maybe dead.
You'll find a lot of veteran users that used to come on everyday.
Let's get down to business.
DSiPaint asked "Why do you think the chatrooms are so dead? Let's be honest."
GleeoK, a member from the DSi era said this.. " I always thought the 3DS didn't support Paint as well as the DSi supported its version of the site, not because of site design but because of the system's browser itself. The 3DS brought a different dynamic of use, which included less browsing and more built-in social functionalities. And yes, we grow up. I don't have time to spend at Paint, I have other means of leisure and I can not afford to stay 3 hours chatting straight, without mentioning all my old paint friends that left the site . I eventually couldn't come in daily (Gleeok)"
I started clapping.
Another reason in my opinion would be people using the groups as a chatroom. I'm not going to get into it because everything I would say would be in Icarus' blog about the problems with groups.
The only part of the site that I see getting the most love is the Blogs.
I actually head onto the Bulletin Boards still, not too many posts there anymore. The last official game show was who knows when.. and Saviis are Saviis...
I have suggestions to get people coming back on.
NiWiFi Matchup:
The system is old. It's pointless to use at this point, but with the new games coming for Wii U, I think there will be users chatting regardless. In my opinion.. (Ever since around 2010..) I think that section deserves a whole new makeover.. or system.. or WHATEVER you want to call it.
Games like Super Smash Bros. For Wii-U or Mario Kart 8 (Which I'm hoping if SavantInamorata isn't as busy nowadays can host some games.. like the summer of 2010) would be nice to have a matchmaking system for.
There should be a way to host gaming events (of course you must have them confirmed first)...
I will be looking forward to fighting and racing you all in 2014 in the new Wii U generation of gaming. I mean afterall, someone's gotta be the King Of Smash again around here. *Cough* Not SuperSliver *Cough*
Library Ahhhhhhh... the Library.. of course you gotta be quiet or the librarian HullBreach will kick you out... I mean... well yeah.
I love your stories and you know.. I was pretty excited when I helped out with this idea. The app itself seemed pretty legit. Reading your stories.. sideways.. being able to change the fonts...
I feel all the story writers, people who write guides, reviews, recipes.. would love it. I'd personally love it. I love writing stories if you know me.
Blah... everything is else is fine.
I'm in college now, so that is my number 1 goal. Although, I sign on everyday. Comment what do you think is wrong, this is only a opinion blog on why I think the chatrooms.. or maybe the site is dead. Add me on Facebook for gaming. I still play Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Mario Kart Wii, 3DS Games such as Mario Kart 7 and Animal Crossing. Message me here if you want to play...
Oh, I will be organizing the TMJ Development group again. More information on that coming soon.
Be on the lookout for Pokemon X/Y tournaments and events. Haven't hosted a tournament here in years.
I joined a little before the DSiPaint Boom. And I only call it that because everything was in motion. Chatrooms were full. Groups were active. New users everyday. Now, it's like no one is active. All of my old friends have left. It's a ghost town most of the time.

Maybe part of the problem is that Hull has too much on his plate. You know, with his job, and family, site maintenance, server maintenance, updating the apps, TMJ, adding knew stuff to the site. Maybe if there was a team to help work on the site, things would get done. Maybe if there was a team to help with the site, the things you have said would be addressed.

Not too sure about a team working on the site is a great idea. TMJ is understandable to have a team for.. not the the whole site. Yes, I've always realized how busy HullBreach is too.
I think we've all become none social... its a trend thats happening to a bunch of dsi sites (or atleast from what iv seen) I mean I rarely post but Im here everyday we just need to find a way to make people post.
And whats with TMJ anyway? I volunteer pretty much everytime but I never get VERY specific details on what needs done, but then again I dont ask so thats my fault I guess.
I haven't been here long enough to have used some of the things so spoke of (the non-active things like ni-wi-fi ect.). I go on chat from time to time but I don't go on because no one else is on. Never go on at 5am...you'll get bored FAST.
This is an interesting idea at the very least. I'm not 100% sure how possible it would be to pull off though. For starters, we would need 10 or more people who actually play LoL and know how it works from this site. They would all need accounts on the same server in order to play together, so chances are some of them will have to play on a server not ideal for their location with a high latency. Furthermore, the higher-level accounts would have an advantage over the others due to runes/masteries.
I suppose a possible solution would be to have everybody make a fresh account and only use the free to play rotation characters, so as to avoid unfair advantages.
Even then, there's the issue of timing. Unless you're lucky enough to find several 5-person teams of willing players in the same time-zone who are all free at the same time, it would be extremely difficult to organise.
Not that I think it's a totally worthless idea, but there are many problems you would need to overcome for it to work.
Can't we just make it a 5v5 game, but have two as bots and three as players on each team to avoid unfairness? Plus, I think you can disable runes and masteries in customs. Making fresh accounts would probably piss people off, not being able to use their favorite champions. coughtwistedfatecough
Except whoever is laning against the bots is gonna have a very easy time, so it will still be unfair because the bots are extremely bad. The other problems still apply as well.
I'm just happy that I qualify as a veteran member.
I never understand anyone saying that Paint is dead. It's pretty lively for me... I guess. And no my friends aren't all noobs, so don't pull that crap on me. Then again, as some of you may already know, my memory isn't as good as it used to be, so I might just not remember how 'active' the place used to be.
I do, however, feel nostalgia for the way the place used to be. You know, before all the updates... Back when I first joined in late June of 2011. 2011 was sorta the last real year, I guess.
Heh, look at me... I'm a mess. Now I'm contradicting myself... I am a very confused individual, but that's not the point.
Also, to be completely honest, the admin list has been unusually large. Too many admins, even. I suppose that once we got more overlords among us several months ago, the admin population grew a little bit.
I agree that the blogs get a lot of the love. Also, the polls tend to get a lot of attention too. And of course, the groups.
I just don't know. Is Paint really dead? Or has some people's accounts been dead for so long that when they come back on for the first time in a while, they notice that all or most of their friends have moved on?
Sheesh... I'm so lost. O.o

You can't possibly understand what I'm talking about. No one can! O.o?
I do. I was gone for about a year, chatrooms used to be super full. Come back, the place seems abandoned. Vets are leaving, and new members arent as common anymore. Most new members I've seen are gone within a week. The place needs some lovin'.
He speaks the truth. I, being a member of over 3 years, miss the chats having people in them. Those were the days. Also, I support the revival of NiWiFi.

I'm pretty sure it wasn't going to get declined even if it was viewed by another blogmin. I wanted it to be a open discussion on some thoughts I threw into a blog.
