Hello, everyone. When it comes to the arts, I prefer music over anything else, but something about it gets lost in the translation to full text, so instead let's try to write a bit more this year. I'll even help start it out. Aren't I great? It's so nice to be me.
Isn't technology great?
I've always been fascinated by technology. It's positively amazing and wonderful. I remember once when I was a kid my older sister and I were walking down the street at night and suddenly as we were passing by a dark alley, a light which was attached to the side of a garage suddenly flashed.
I was confused because no one seemed to be around to have turned the light on. I asked my sister how that could be, and my sister quickly said "It's a motion detector".
Holy freaking crap! That's damned unbelievable! How the hell is that even possible?!
That's what I thought to myself because at the age of 4 I had a slightly more crude vocabulary than others my age, and I didn't know anything at all about that sort of technology. In addition to not understanding the science behind it, what might have shocked me so much may have also been the fact that I'd misheard what my sister said as "Its emotion detector".
Following that, I was further confused and somewhat frightened about myself when the other emotion detectors I then assumed were in all lights wouldn't turn on when I passed by them.
Technology also has endless uses which improve society. From the medical equipment that helps sustain people after accidents, to the phones they happened to be distracted by when those accidents happen, to the 3DS and internet connection that allowed me to pleasantly pass the time during my recovery, and to the new phones now in use, technology improves nearly all areas of life.
You see, when sitting around the house with nothing to do, a phone is a great thing to have. It allows you to connect to people everywhere, even if you're only using it to call someone standing just a few yards away, where they can't see you.
And when you end up in a hospital because you weren't looking both ways when you crossed the street while secretly following someone you happen to also be on the phone with because you think it's funny to scare people by telling them you're always watching them and then describing what they're wearing, where they are, and what they're doing, it's technology that will save your life.
It's technology that'll keep you entertained while in recovery from an admittedly stupid accident when your family and friends won't visit because they think you deserved it and won't learn anything if they come to your aid every time you do something like that. Still, you'd do it again in an instant because, hey, it's worth it.
It's technology that'll allow you to vent on internet forums and then disconnect without worry of dealing with responses that'll further berate you for "immature" behavior.
And it's technology that let's you conceal your phone number and disguise your voice so you can get back to passing time however you please while keeping up the image that you aren't making inappropriate phone calls anymore.
Not that I'd know about those specific instances. I'm more mature than that, and I assure you my time absent from this site last year had nothing to do with any of those things.
Anyway, I swear if I weren't so devoted to love and serious writing I'd definitely take a more thorough look into how technology works. I may keep all the lights on in my home now, but technology really is a great thing. It's all very interesting and I strongly urge everyone to learn more about it.
