Wait, it's already Member Appreciation Day again? It feels like I just put away my tree and decorations a month ago.

I'm still amazed all the time by the longevity of this community, how many great people are a part of it, and how many return years later to reconnect with old friends. Without all you wonderful people, this would be nothing more than code on a server (or likely just code sitting on a back-up drive somewhere). Thank you for being here!

As I did last year, I'd like to give a State of the Community address of sorts, as it can be difficult to remember all the changes and plans, otherwise.

In the past year, much of the focus within the community has been with both bug fixes and with security enhancements. A few community volunteers have contributed to the effort to help when I've been too busy. One area of note is that the bulletin boards are working again! Also, browser cookies used for the "Remember Me" feature can now be killed from anywhere you've logged into your account to keep everything secure if you logged in using another device and forgot to log out.

For HullBreach Studios as a whole, we have several initiatives at https://labs.hullbreachstudios.com in the AI arena. The plan is to hopefully train a custom natural language model for the SDK Community in the near future that allows for site-wide searching of content. For instance, maybe you want to search, "Show me posts by HullBreach last year." It would return all my blogs, comments, BB content, etc., from 2023. Additionally, we still have plans to finish a new API suite so that third parties can integrate with the community. Finally, we would like to add support for registering accounts with Google or Apple to avoid the extra verification step.

Hmmm, I'd say I honestly wanna just put a message out there for any of the og's and friends of mine from a while back when I was more active. DCTheGamr, Weeeheeep, anelikk-aaron, Wesley988, and all those with usernames I don't quite remember too well.

I'm sorry that I haven't been as active as I'd used to be. As much as I love Paint, it was unrealistic to assume it'd be forever for me. But even if it isn't as long-lasting as I'd hoped, it was my everything for years. And that wasn't because of the games or the functions of this site. It was because of you guys. Even when you made me want to take my eyes out from frustration and did stupid shit, it was all good fun and talking to you guys really kept me sane. I don't really have any specific messages to anyone in particular this time.

But hey, if you ever see me pop up in your online friends list, talk to me! I'm always happy to talk to y'all, and you've honestly been there through some of the roughest years of my life. I'm almost an adult now, and you guys are all getting older too. Isn't that crazy? I still reminisce some of the old days, even if I was so damn cringe to y'all. You are both my closest friend in the entire world and also the greatest admin that Paint has ever known, and words can't begin to describe how grateful I am to you for everything that you have done for both me and Paint.
(But since it's Member Appreciation Day I'm still going to try, lol!)

When you gave me this AWESOME smartphone earlier this year, you changed my life completely. No longer am I dependent upon my dad for internet access, and no longer am I restricted to using a device that isn't 100% mine, and not free for me to use however I want. For my entire life up until this point I had been dependent upon my dad and/or mom for everything, but you gave me one of the most precious gifts that someone can give someone else: independence.

As for why I'm always claiming that you're the #1 admin and should be made an Overlord, it isn't just because of the poll results that say so, nor is it because of how you were the only one on the admin team willing to stand up to the 2 worst abusive admins that I've ever met, it is because of your dedication to your job, and also your deep understanding of what it truly means to be a good admin here.

When you left Paint back in 2021, one thing that stood out to me was how rather than going to a mainstream social media website like everyone else who had left Paint at that point in time did, you chose to stick to the DSi/3DS websites that you loved. This really stood out to me as a person who loves these websites as well, and IMO this sets you apart from literally every other admin that I've ever met, as a person who genuinely loves Paint and the few remaining websites like it, and sees all of the good that they do for people like me.

Since returning to Paint (thanks for that BTW), you have once again proven yourself to be the most dedicated admin that I have ever met. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that you still had your Helpmin powers, and while the other Helpmins certainly did an OK job, you probably did more to clear unresolved Help Desk entries in your first month after returning to Paint than the entire admin team had during the 3+ years that you were gone. You're not just a friendly, kind, compassionate, principled, and dedicated person, you're also a TOTAL FREAKING BADASS!!!
(You'll have to forgive my use of foul language there, lol!)

Anyway, I suppose that's all that I want to say for now. You truly are a remarkable person in so many different ways, and this phone that I'm holding in my hand is a constant reminder of that, as well as of our wonderful friendship, which means more to me than anything.

P.S. Thanks again for giving me that Uber Eats gift card, too. Thanks to you, me and Dad were able to share 2 REALLY tasty and filling meals from 2 of my favorite restaurants, which both me and him most certainly appreciated.

If UwUQueen is the #1 admin here—which she is—then you are the #1 community member here, and like her, your dedication to and love of Paint is both something that I can relate to and something that I greatly admire.

It is a well-known fact that in 2022-2023 you singlehandedly resurrected this website from the ashes, and also that a lot of people (the anti-SDKers) hate you for this, but I have consistently supported both you and your efforts to do so. Not because I condone the ableist or otherwise offensive language that you frequently use—I don't—nor because I agree with all of your political views—I don't necessarily, although you're a far more liberal and open-minded person than all of your illiberal and close-minded detractors make you out to be—but because once you get past all of the ridiculous excuses and the denialism, it becomes quite clear to anyone that you are Paint's future, and even if those who desperately cling to the corpse of Paint's distant and unreachable past can't accept that fact, that doesn't change it.

Although you have been here for 2 less years than I have, you have been able to achieve far more than I have in many areas. It will probably be a long time, for example, before I am able to achieve the Gold Star Author Badge, and it is highly likely that you'll be the first person to achieve the highest levels of all of the badges here, at which point it will be undeniable that you truly are the Emperor of Paint.
(I still wish that more people had voted for me in that poll though, lol!)

Also, aside from all of that, you've just been a great friend to me. It might seem weird to some that I'd enjoy talking with a teenager who can't even vote—and doesn't even want to—about politics and world events and such, but you're an incredibly smart person, and those who actually listen to what you have to say without bias or prejudice inevitably will be impressed by your understanding of things, even if they disagree with you.

I'm hoping that both you and your empress have a long and bright future ahead of you here on Paint. IK that I will be doing everything that I can to help ensure that you do, and rest assured that everyone in this wonderful community that you've created here will try to do the same.

I appreciate all of the support that both of you have shown both me and UwUQueen, as well as how you both aspire to become admins like us yourselves.

There have been a lot of new members showing up here on Paint this year, and IK that after Hull made Amjam a Chatmin that many of y'all are wanting to become admins as well, so that you too can help out the community and the admin team by doing admin stuff, and although I unfortunately can't say if/when either of you (or anybody else for that matter) will be given admin powers, just know that by being active here and trying to help out your fellow community members by telling them helpful things about the website (and obviously trying to get them all to abide by the rules here) that you'll be helping out the admin team too, even if you're not actually members of it yet yourselves.
(That's what I did before I became an admin, and look where it's gotten me?)

The Bible group isn't nearly as active as it was back when Siling first made it in 2019, and it is essentially just me, DC, Wesley, and flowerlight at this point, but I still haven't forgotten about any of you, and I pray for each and every one of you every single day.

Siling, I'd be lying if I didn't say that it is incredibly frustrating for me that you're never around to invite new members to the Bible group anymore. Kashbanooka, noobishpro, and sandisgoodtoeat have all been waiting (and will likely still be waiting for quite some time) to join it, and you REALLY need to send them their invites already, lol!

All that being said, I'd like to thank you for even making the Bible group here in the first place, and for giving me that much-needed nudge in the right direction back in 2019 that led me to accept Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. As for the rest of you, IK that y'all still been praying for me and my family, and I'm thankful to you both for that, and for the emotional and spiritual support that y'all have given me many times in the past when I needed it the most.

Lastly, to any members who may have lost their faith in God, please know that I don't hold this decision against you, and while I'll obviously still be praying for you to find your way back to the Lord, I'd like to apologize for my unnecessary rudeness towards you in the not-so distant past, and also to thank you for all that you've done for both me and the Bible group over the years.

Just like me and Wesley, you and I also disagree on most political matters, only unlike when I'm talking about these things with Wesley, you and I don't have the common ground of our shared faith in God to fall back on, and I'd be lying if I said that it didn't bother me quite a bit.
(I REALLY don't like secular social conservatism aside from the pro-life stuff.)

All that being said, you're an AWESOME writer and a pretty cool guy, and even if I personally find it offensive in many ways, I'd like to apologize to you for never getting around to helping you to fix up your story blog so that it can be featured like I had promised to do for you before, and whenever I get some free time, please know that I still have every intention of doing so.

I'm sorry for not leaving individual messages for each of y'all like in years past, but it's been so long since I've really spoken to any of you, and so IG it's beginning to feel a bit weird.

I miss each and every one of you, and in some cases, I miss you a great deal. Although I'd probably not recognize you if we met on Discord or something and you used a different username than the one you used when you were here on Paint—aside from those of you whom I've already met on Discord and already shared your new usernames with me anyway—I remember each and every one of you quite clearly, and I remember you all quite fondly as well.

I'm not quite sure why I haven't reached out to some of you lately, and others of you I don't even know where to reach you at. A few of you I've sent DMs to over on Discord and never got a response, but as far as I'm concerned all of you are still my friends, and in case any of y'all ever want to reach out to me either here on Paint or over on Discord, I just wanted y'all to know that.

Aside from those of you whom I've met here on Paint, IK y'all even less than the newest of the Paint members that I just mentioned in my previous message, and given that y'all are members of a Discord server that is technically mine, I must admit that feels a bit strange to me…

I plan on trying to get to know y'all better in the near future, and I'd like to thank y'all for joining my Discord server. That said, I strongly recommend that you join the community here on 3DSPaint too, as my Discord server is an SDKPaint one (which is why it bears the same name as my main group here on Paint), although the decision is obviously yours to make. And if for some reason you'd rather remain members of my (unofficial) SDKPaint Discord server but not SDKPaint itself, know that I will respect that decision of yours and simply be grateful that you are a member of my Discord server.
(Which is more or less how things are RN.)

Hopefully I'll be able to figure out some ways to get y'all interested in actually doing things on my server in the coming months, lol!
