Hello... Please read this issue entirely if you can. This site has tons of potential and a great person running it, and these ideas may be very helpful for this site and it's users. Thank You.

I know sometime people get banned, and In their childish rage they submit curse-filled blogs in a pathetic example of idiocracy.
I, however, only create this blog/issue to benefit the site and how it functions.

I was banned by the chat-bot this morning for saying the word "shíz" seriously? .... SERIOUSLY!?! I know I havnt been on in over a year... but that's a bit crazy. I know this site is "G-rated", "Family friendly", etc, but even the Disney channel would find that a bit extreme. (That's my only rant xD it's all professional from here on)

Returning to the site I've noticed a good number of older members have left, and have been replaced by a hoard of children. This isnt bad, but there could be a simple solution to make this site broader, more versatile. A great number of SDK members have left for facebook or other sites with less restrictions :/

Now with a little bit of work, you could see this site get 10 times more popular and successful, while keeping it's style and fundamentals. Chat hosting by members would remove the faulty system of bots and possibly administrators, and language, etc. would be dictated by the host. Or perhaps rooms could be hosted with bot filters if younger users are hosting.
※The language rooms, although thoughtful, really only benefit few to nobody, and this system would negate the need for those unused rooms.
※Instead of a select few people having power, every user would have power and responsibility. A user could have fun and freedom and host chats and games and send invites and links to friends on their list.

Lol... they did that once. there were flibble flabbles and dib dabs everywhere o.o but thats just dumb... and negates the point xD swear words are just words. a combination of letters hat have a defintion and meaning. Some evoke certain emotions in people and some more than others. Some people arent mature enough to handle curse words. Some people just use them crudely and in excess. And SOMETIMES you really cant find words to express yourself, so you just inproperly use slang and vernacular to try to evoke as much emotion as possible when explaining things or trying to make others understand.

Personally I think there are stronger words that most people misuse. Love, Hate, etc. THEY ought to be censored from the immature. Though cenship is the only thing that ought to be censored...

@Maximan: I'm on all hours. 6 would be the highest i've ever seen them. 6 people as an all time maximum on one rare instance is hardly "a lot", but I think language rooms are thoughtul and sometimes useful... but they wouldnt be needed if there were private or custom rooms.

@Flyguy: I'm not saying the changes are all figured out and ready to happen. these ar just ideas so that HB and whoever designs the site (if anyone but HB designs the site) can have a few things to consider.

@Carson: Yeah... if Hull goes with the idea of hosted temporary rooms, then the host should have the power... but banning really shouldnt be an issue. people you invite to a hosted chat are people from your friends list. I'm sure the host wont have a problem with close friends acting up... or else they can ban em, delete em, learn a lesson.

I think if users host their own rooms and members get banned in those rooms, they should only be banned from THAT room, you know what I'm saying? But that's only in a user-owned chatroom. Otherwise some members would ban in their rooms just for the fun and harassment of others. Admins could co-host the room to make sure chaters don't break the rules or just watch the chatroom while the host is on break. Hosts could also dictate their rules, also, but with limitations, of course. I think DSiPaint has a bright future awaiting it and I'll be looking forward to that day.

I agree with some of those points, but each have their flaws. I'm not saying I have a foolproof way just yet, but with collaboration and brainstorming I'm sure we can figure something out. And by having powers, I mean having no powers. If everyone was equal, then power wouldnt matter. I know some users feel comfortable in their ocean of children, but expansion of the site should be wanted by users, and i'm sure HB too. If the site aquires changes that further satisfy the upcoming 3DS users, then new systems and techniques would have to be used or invented to provide for these users. With a more efficient site, everything would run smoother. Games like TMJ would easily integrate new site advances as well. It would just make everything better for everyone if it's done right xP

Maybe when an Admin thinks they should get powers, they'll get them. What if a member joins, leaves for a year, and comes back in a year?

No.
They should their experience here longer than a set date, like 5 months or even a year after they join.
That is the only thing I see wrong in these suggestions.

-MY OPINIONS-

Look, i guess we should focus in games, matches and system codes exchanging, since the 3DS can VERY EASILY switch from a game to the browser and vice-versa.

Oh yeah, about the language rooms, I've been thinking "and if we translate SDK into multiple languages? maybe these rooms will become more used."
As i have the abiltiy to do so myself i've been donating Translations to the site, o.e i have to check if HB got the last ones btw, this is why i stoped a little.

Oh back...So, i guess we should keep language rooms, i just agree their chatroom menu icons should be changed to the respective country's flag, to call attention (maybe the inner background also.)

Cussing:

Look, everybody knows the great part of people here is more than 11, 13, But this is the owner's decision and i guess it is a good one, blocking vulgar slangs (even if some of us think they are not that baaaad) gives a good image to the site, without saying it pretty much teach me to control myself in some situations and keep my mouth clean.

-Bots-

These have been helping a lot since then, If you get banned by a bot you 100% deserved it (not counting Sav bot IP check bans that might take some people with it), since these bots have a somewhat simple system which is basically detecting a specific simple action and respoding to it they will never fail. So i don't see why to take them out...

-Creating Custom Rooms-

Why? We have so many public rooms here why do we need to create our own? If you want to private chat just use /pm, if you want to REALLY private chat just use the e-mail system.

Custom rooms would basically overload the server with Non-used rooms i guess...

and with 3DS right around the corner, some changes would be refreshing. The changes made while I was gone are already awesome

And no doubt these changes will take a bit of time for HB to do... but i'm sure he could do it pretty easy.

@SYED: Yeah I thought about that too... but what's the difference between them lying here and getting on pg-13+ chats elsewhere? where they get in effortlessly. The main issue is kids who are good and proper and dont WANT that stuff xD they'll have their strict G-rated place and we'll have ours... or maybe theres a way to filter both in the same room? idk

I never really care for the chats. I'm usually ignored unless some friends are there.

Yeah I think a 13+ area would be more "good". BUT.. There is a way around.. Changing your age..Or new account then age change.. Then five year olds in a "older people chat" not to great.

If someone were to promote the language rooms w/ an Event, however, they'd be more popular... For speaking that language, I mean... Or, if we get rid of them, no bans for the those who don't speak English in the Normal Chats.

I agree... The ban system only needs some tweeks.
Reform for the site isnt really crucial... but I think it would make it a lot easier for older members to have interest in the site. It would be refreshing to not talk about beiber and miley for a change Dx WHERE HAVE MY PEERS GONE!?!?! bring back the LoZ and pokemon... joking innuendo... idk lol

THANKS! i dont want to cuss up a storm or make this site crude in any way, but I just think some things are just silly. I've literally been banned up to 10 times for slip ups like "lmäo" that just... its an acronym for a phrase that's allowed Dx But thanks for that

With the Nintendo 3DS on the horizon, there are going to be many changes to these websites to cater to the expanded audience that will inevitably arrive. Perhaps security settings could key off the birthday for profanity filters and assume you are something like 5 years old if you leave it blank. I'm open to ideas, especially from longtime members.

im not happy Dx i got banned for saying shìz! what the blargg? :/ and a few people can handle it. you're one of the handful of people that stays... but really 95% of all the vets and old SDK friend have all left

a few changes would make the site bigger. theres used to be 60-70+ ppl on chats at a time Dx and not kids
