Ok, first off; what is an ocarina? An ocarina is an instrument made usually out of clay that can have 4 to 12 holes. Ocarinas are made in many different shapes including sweet potatoes or pendants. What we'll be making today is a pendant ocarina. First what you'll need are just 4 things; clay, a thin blade, wax paper, and your very own hands. First what you need to do is put the wax paper over the surface you will work with, this prevents the clay from sticking to your surface. Next grab some clay and start forming it into a ball. Once you've got it the shape you want it, cut it in half with your blade. If you've ever done pinch-pots before this step will be easy. Now stick your thumbs in the flat part of one of the halves and start to hollow it out by pushing into the clay then moving your thumbs apart making a pinch-pot. When doing this make sure you leave the outside of the half about a cm thick. Once you've done this to both sides, take your knife and cut little marks in the "wall" of the clay. Not on the inside or outside but on the part that goes around the entire half of the ocarina. Do this to both sides then apply a little bit of water to the walls. Now stick both halves together and wrap a coil of clay around where the two halves meet then smooth everything out. Once everything's smooth and secure, make one side of the ocarina flat by hitting it on a flat surface. Not too hard or the ocarina may break. Congrats! You've made the body of your ocarina! Next up is the mouth piece and voicing hole.
sorry shiney, nothing I can really do there, sorry. But try going to greenvurdugo.com and look at their fingering chart in their ocarina making tutorial
