Oh hey there 'Paint. I recently bought (and beat) Pokemon Conquest last week. It came out last Tuesday, and there wasn't as much hype about it, though i still gave it a try.
Pokemon Conquest has nothing to do with the storyline of Black/White, or any of the other Pokemon games. Rather, it takes place in the region of Ransei, and may i add the region itself look like a certain pokemon!
In Ransei there is 17 castles. Each castle is owned by a Warlord. You start off as the Warlord of Aurora, and you're only Pokemon is an Eevee. Pokemon grow more powerful and closer to you depending on it's link with you, which is basically experience points. Warriors, which are essentially trainers, do not catch pokemon, they link with them.
Linking includes approaching a wild pokemon, pressing the Link command, and pressing the A button when a yellow circle meets the dotted outline. Do that enough times, adn win the battle, and you have yourself another Pokemon.
The gameplay of Pokemon conquest is something entirely different. It is not like in orignal Pokemon games. No, when you start a match, you and your warriors throw their pokemon out onto a field that you can see. The opposing team does the same. Each army then takes turns moving their pokemon within a certain amount of squares(Your pokemon's range affects how far it can move) and if the Pokemon can, then you can tell it to attack another Pokemon.
Attacking is...interesting. The camera moves to a different angle, and show the animation of the pokemon doing the move, and the other pokemon being hurt. Each pokeom only has 1 move it can use. For example, Prinplup can only use Bubblebeam, and Charizard can only use Flamethrower. Battle end when the objective is met, which is secure all of the flags, or defeat the other army.
Also, warriors have abilities. They can only be activated once per battle, and do various things. Such as critical ratio goes up, range goes up, etc.
Warriors can also evolve, strangely enough. Evolving warriors gain only better abilities.
So most of the game goes along as you conquering all 17 kingdoms, and unlocking an ultimate pokemon. Pokemon Conquest almost has a Risk feel to it, since you must disperse Warriors to your kingdoms in case you are attacked.
Music was suprisingly awesome.(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zNEvnNIWEK4)This Track is the orginal battle music, and other kingdom battle music branches off and has some qualities of the original. The music has a very upbeat tone and gets you ready to battle.
Overall, this game came out better than expected. There is a lot of play ability, and lots of story-twisters in it. Be sure to pick it up if you have the money.
