Thanksgiving, as we all know, is a day we eat a large meal. But what people seem to have forgotten is that it's also a day to give thanks. Just the other day, I recieved a message with,"Happy early Turkey Day!!" in it. Thanksgiving isn't about the bird.
A common excuse for the name 'Turkey Day' is that they don't want to offend anyone who's not religious. But, your religion(or lack of religion, in some peoples' terms) shouldn't matter. Even if you don't thank God, since you don't believe in him, it should still be a day to thank those in your life who have done good to you.
Thanksgiving should be a reminder to kids to thank their parents for taking care of them. People seem to be great at whining about what they don't have, yet they don't take the time to really be thankful. Hell, we even trample people for sales exactly one day after giving thanks!
During today(Thankgiving), give thanks for what you have, and thank those who love you and care for you. During tomorrow(Black Friday), take a minute and just stop and think about what you have, and just be thankful.
Thanks for reading. Have a great Thanksgiving and a safe Black Friday.
Second of all, a little note to your uneducated friends, Thanksgiving is not at all a religious holiday.
Thanksgiving was the day in which the Pilgrims reached Plymouth and wanted to get jiggy with Turkeys because they knew if they didn't eat, they wouldn't last that much longer.
That's all.
It didn't have to be Turkey either.
To all you kids who won't eat your vegetables, it could of been broccoli.
