Animal Farm is always worth reading. I'm sure you've heard of it, but if you haven't- animals rebel against their master and attempt to control their farm. It is actually about Stalin and the works.
It is a book assigned for highschool, but I read and understood it, even being in 6th grade.
And no, a smile won't help. But for us that can't donate, a smile means we care and we are wishing the best. Let's try not to find fault, and show them that we can be supportive of them by just smiling for now. :)
Three Cups of Tea, a named book for many to read has been reported as a fake. His book is a lie. Not a complete lie, but bad enough.
The story is fake. He made it seem as if they didn't have enough money for girls to go to school, however they just don't want girls to go to school. He also says that he was captured, but he was not! He was actually being treated like a guest while he was 'captured'. Yes he built them a school, but not while he was there. He built many schools. Most of them are run down and not used.
There have been many interviews with the people associated with his trip, and he lies.
At a book signing, a news crew showed up. They asked to question him and he said to wait in the lobby of his hotel. After they left, he ran out of the back door of the building. He announced that he was in a hospital because of heart problems. Greg Morenson retreated into hiding for a while, until he was sued. If he doesn't show up to defend himself, he loses. He is in a pickle.
He has done 'Pennies for Peace' to raise money for the schools while in reality he just kept all the money for expensive hotels and flights.
My sister, my friend, and I were particularly upset about it because we were assigned to read this book, as were thousands. When we found out who he really was we were stunned.
My father's work was pushed to read this and he read 20 pages and he suspected it was fake because he has read real books of that genre.
My brother's dad nearly got hit. I was scared for him. He was at the end of a long road in Alabama and the tornadoes curved and just slipped past him. Literally everyone around him got hit.
I would expect SOMEONE to do this. And maybe she was mentally ill, no?
You know what they say, "Live in interesting times". You understand that this doesn't mean "Laugh at everything that happens in the world" It means our lives are not boring, they have some excitement--even if it isn't positive. Sorry to get off topic. Please, no one in this generation do this.
@Craig675- The grandchildren belonged to Qadaffi, and they weren't trying to kill them, they just happened to be in the way.
And of course this is a big deal. Bin Laden planned the attack on the World Trade Center. He robbed us of two of our most important buildings and the innocent lives of many. We didn't do anything to him to make him believe he could just go killing us. And now, justice has been served.
