On Monday, July 11, 2011, 8-year-old Leiby Kletzky of Greenwood Heights, Brooklyn, New York, USA went missing. It was his first time walking home alone from his daycare center, and was scheduled to meet his mother at a store a few blocks away. However, he never showed up. On his way, he became lost, and asked a stranger for directions. That stranger was 35-year-old Levi Aron, who wound up kidnapping young Leiby. Aron kept him in his attic apartment for a day, and even took him to a wedding in upstate NY. After realizing that the entire Jewish community of Greenwood Heights was searching for Leiby, Aron panicked and drugged the young boy. He later suffocated him with a towel, then dismembered his body; disposing of the evidence in a dumpster 2 miles away, and in his freezer. Levi Aron was arrested the next day, is now facing the death penalty for this brutal and tragic crime. However, Levi Aron is pleading not guilty, due to mental health issues.
What are your thoughts and opinions on this tragedy?
Personally, I am very upset by this, and I even cried when I found out that Leiby was killed. This tragedy happened a mile away from where I live, and it has hit the entire state very hard. RIP Leiby Kletzky :'(
It sent the media and people "into a frenzy" because it happened in a community that has not seen crime anywhere close to this in over 25 years. Also, because it was another member of the same Jewish community that killed Leiby, which has been said by the police comissioner to be EXTREMELY rare. :/
I've seen cases of kiddnapping much worse. Try being a girl put in a cage all of her childhood by some stranger.
And I've never heard of an 8 y/o in day-care ó-ô
Well when it's the first to happen in an "extremely safe community" in 25+ years, it's very sad. And just think of how it was done. He was DISMEMBERED. Have a soul. Why must you contradict almost everything I say?
@Shadow - It was more like a day camp, I worded it wrong. :/
Day-Camp makes a bit more sense, I remember going to a few at 8. Some were fun, others we didn't do much. o3o
Well sorry, not exactly my surroundings, so it isn't as shocking. And while it's gruesome, it's still the same result; He's dead. So essentially, there really is no need to focus on HOW he dies, but just bury/cremate him, build a memorial of sorts, if it's worth it, and move on. And if you must know, it's because ANYTHING can be contradicted. What you say just happens to be easier to contradict than, say, what RaptorofDoom might say.
Whoa bro, better slow down bro, don't wanna be a bro, bro.
Wait, wait, you're telling me his parents didn't trust him home alone while they were gone, (he was in a day care..) but they trust him to walk alone to some meeting place? -sigh- >.> Some people astound me with their stupidity..
Fine, your telling of me to "have a soul" and give a damn about someone who I never even knew or had seen. So I refer you to your statement below of why you won't take it personally.
For all intents and purposes, you technically "know" me as The Ram. Your statement is null and void.
Whoa bro, better slow down bro, don't wanna be a bro, bro.
