The latest tragic development in the Afghan War is that more than 20 US Navy SEALs from the unit that terminated Osama bin Laden are now known to have been killed in a helicopter crash just outside of Kabul. The Chinook transport copter containing 31 American troops and 7 Afghan troops was downed by a Taliban rocket-propelled grenade which killed all passengers and crew. It occurred following a firefight in which insurgents claim to have ambushed a night raid party. This incident is the single greatest loss of life for the entire war.
So the big question is whether this attack was purposeful or mere coincidence. In either event, it is a sad day for both the United States and Afghanistan.
Been recently revealed that the NATO team in the helicopter had completed the rescue mission of an under-fire US Army Ranger unit and were departing when they got hit. The numbers have also been updated to 30 Americans and 8 Afghans. It should also be clarified that the killed SEALs only belonged to the same unit that took down bin Laden; they were not the actual participants.
Makes one wonder how responsible the ground units feel about failing to eliminate one combatant more, even in a winning fight. I also find it strange why the Taliban insurgents brought anti-tank hardware with them when they were conducting an ambush on footsoldier infantry, so perhaps the Taliban isn't being quite honest in their statements.
Yep, waste millions on a self-started good for nothing war, and priceless lives. Thank you America's Government. See folks, we aren't suppose to invade foreign land. I'm pretty sure if back then the Native American had Armored Tanks and AK47'S we wouldn't be here.
My ideal life; Living to the fullest, having fun, and geeking on a linux box.
Look, our Government will never learn. And sadly, this is like running away from a massive fire after starting it, really. The mentality our Government has right now is "If we leave, we'll be shot in the back while running."
Whoa bro, better slow down bro, don't wanna be a bro, bro.
That's true, Panzer. Or at least, mess with us on a full-scale. And in all honestly, and I know I sound like a total Liberal and "Anti-Patriot" right now, but I think almost nay attack on us would be justified. We've literally raped the space we have of almost every natural resource, spare water and some trees, we go over to other lands on "Peace Missions" or "Against Terror" for what? Oil? -.- Still sickening to me.
