For those who may not have heard, there has been this fanmade Windows program called "Instacheck Hotspot" generating a lot of buzz. Providing you have the capabilities, it lets you connect your 3DS to the hotspot to reveal hidden Pokémon information. This includes the all-important IVs as well as newly discovered shiny values (SVs, I assume): pretty much if the shiny value of an egg matches your trainer's, it hatches a shiny. This in particular sparked an online SV pool where players try to get shinies by matching their codes up. It does present an advantage in the community, but it's not a hack in the sense that it manipulates your game software. Might be interesting to look into.
To kick off the launch of Pokémon Bank, a free Celebi will be available for all who have used the storage app before October 2014. Signing up for the paid service is not required as simply using the free trial equals eligibility.
Also, the Instacheck and Battle Analyzer cheat apps are disabled with the 1.2 update, so both are pretty much no longer options.
As most may know, Pokémon Bank was officially delayed for download server reasons. The app was live in Japan for a short period of time, and interestingly, around that time it was revealed by other sources that the app and its companion app allowed storage and transfer of hacked Pokémon. Rumours about that in conjunction with the egg penalty lead me to believe it was taken down to a) prevent hacked Pokémon traffic, and b) buy time for a patch.
To clear up a little on what Pokémon Bank blocks, it does not check for hacked Pokémon. It checks for various signs of fabricated Pokémon like impossible levels, base stats, movesets, and possibly IDs. Illegit shinies and "untampered" Pokémon are not blocked, while select legit legendaries are blocked because of accepted moveset inconsistencies. There is also no egg infection. So the conditions are staying somewhat standard and for good reason.
Japan's Diancie event for the movie will be happening from 19 July through 30 September. Reasonable to expect events for the other regions a few months off of that?
Worldwide event Pokémon coming! To celebrate the inevitable milestone of 100 million trades going through the GTS on X/Y, a special Fancy Pattern Vivillon will be available to download. Right now the count is reportedly around 90 million...
Well 100 million trades are in the books, so the event is good to go. Fancy Pattern Vivillon actually comes with a unique signature move. It is available from now until the end of the month (31 July).
From 13 August to 17 September, X owners can get a Heracross, and Y owners can get a Pinsir. Nothing special there, but it is supposed to go in tandem with the two-week Gamestop event (18 August - 31 August) in which there are codes for their respective Mega Stones. Meaning X/Y owners can get either Heracronite or Pinsirite respectively which they would normally be unable to obtain from that game version.
Another event for NA. To celebrate opening the Pokémon Center online store, they're giving out Pokéball Pattern Vivillon. It is available for only a week, now through 12 August.
