Georgia school shooting averted

An Atlanta-area elementary school became Tuesday's headliner as a 20-year old gunman entered armed with a high powered "assault" rifle, hundreds of rounds, and other weapons. About 870 students were successfully evacuated outside and then bussed offsite while two staff members were held captive in the front office. The suspect fired several rounds at the gathered police presence, who returned fire. It was reported that he expressed his willingness to die. Held hostage, one clerk/bookkeeper managed to convince him to put his weapons down and surrender. The incident ended with no injuries or fatalities.

Goodness! The people in this world! Well, at least nobody was hurt. That's good to hear.

This is just downright ridiculous. One school shooting, and every other nut-job that has ever existed wants to do the same. This is probably going to be the result of every major-shooting if there are anymore after this one; one major, devastating shooting followed by other 'minor' (notice the quotes) mimic-shootings.

Hopefully laws will be put in place to prevent something like this from happening. As much as I hate to say it, but I think we need to enforce some kind of gun control. I really don't like that word being raised by a simi-conservative mother, but enough is enough. At least I'm not like the politicians on Capital Hill five minutes after Sandyhook. (Seeing a crisis as an opportunity to push their own agenda)

I have an idea for the first law that should be put into place: Let's ban guns on school property. Oops, that's already the law, but it doesn't stop lawbreakers. Here's a better solution: Allow conceal carry holders to bring their weapons into schools. That would send a message to the people who would normally target "gun-free zones" that someone may actually be able to stop the killfests! The only reason gunmen target schools and cinemas is because they know that law-abiding people cannot defend themselves.

Expecting government to add more anti-gun laws is an irrational argument, because it just adds more opportunity for criminals. Take a look a Australia. They recently passed anti-gun laws, and violent crimes jumped 500%!

Banning guns is like taking drivers licenses away from sobor people to stop drunk driving.
