I think that the new changes have made many people leave, for example permanent bans, after you get a perma ban then there's no point in staying and most don't make a new account, due to the fact that they're angry about the ban. Everyone has thier bad days, why should they be banned forever because of them.
You do realize that perma bans are only issued when someone does something REALLY bad, like if you spam lots of paintings/sprites, get banned 20+ times, etc.
Communism: You have more water, everyone has more water!
And I'll say what Waffle said.
Also, if you get Pb'd (lazyness complete), there's a high chance you wouldn't want to come back.
I also think that some veterans would leave because of the changes. But then again, what do I know? o-o
Mmm no can't see why anyone would want to leave DSipaint im no vet but I have been here for a year and even if I was perma baned I would still come back DSi paint RULES!!!
Lifes like a game there are those who are good at it and those who need practice.
I don't see why any of the updates to the site would cause anyone to leave, but the way some users act these days seems like it'd drive away some people.
It's my job to help the next generation, and set a good example for them. And for that I'll gladly lay down my life.
@thisismyusername A few things you may want to know:
Permanent bans are nothing new; they've been around for nearly the lifespan of SDK.
It's not so much that there is no point in staying once one is perma'd, rather that one cannot stay once one is perma'd. Creation of a new account to avoid a permanent ban is cheating the system and worthy of another permanent ban.
And yes, people do have bad days, but rules are ideally administered without discrimination.
But to answer the original question, I don't believe new changes (updates?) are really why users leave. There is some truth to older users leaving because they feel new users are irritating, but that is more commonly not the case. The two main reasons are real-life responsibilities and that thing called drama. Being on this website admittedly tends to eat up a lot of time, and that can conflict with priorities, most notably school. And of course, we're all humans here. When we get trolled, spammed, insulted, slandered, etc., we often get hurt. That can lead to leaving this website. Unfortunate, but true.
@craig You don't have to post a paragraph, but reasonably long responses are generally best in robust discussions. There isn't anything wrong with the length of your last few responses, but you've posted a couple that amounted to "haha" and "Agreed." You've also posted a bit too frequently in this thread. I think those are Halli's main points.

I don't think they leave because of changes because change is improvement. More and more people are joining which makes it more crowded and with more people comes more who are obnoxious and annoying. If it were me, I would just ignore them. Also, people don't want to get in trouble for breaking rules. Rules need to be followed and rules are strict. People don't want to deal with it.
