Look, we're ALL blinded by bias. All of our opinions are biased, in one way or another, you can't appeal to every group. Is Tanya wrong? Hell yes, but, that's my biased opinion. You know what though? There IS a way to have no biased opinion; Have NO opinion at all, just blindly follow others. Look at Tanya, and some other less-clear thinkers... -.-
I wonder if I got my point across.
Whoa bro, better slow down bro, don't wanna be a bro, bro.
Correct me if I'm wong, but why is everybody talking about arm and leg amputation? I don't think stem cell research or therapeutic cloning would/could be used for regrowing limbs.. it would likely be used for spinal injuries or something like that.
@Neon: They're just being over-exagerating right now...
It's true, you'd moreso be using it to regrow lost tissue internally, or replenish your cell-count...
Well... That's debatable.
Whoa bro, better slow down bro, don't wanna be a bro, bro.
"Stem cell research can potentially help treat a range of medical problems. It could lead humanity closer to better treatment and possibly cure a number of diseases:
•Parkinson’s Disease
•Alzheimer’s Disease
•Heart Diseases, Stroke and Diabetes (Type 1)
•Birth Defects
•Spinal Cord Injuries
•Replace or Repair Damaged Organs
•Reduced Risk of Transplantation (You could possibly get a copy of your own heart in a heart-transplantation in the future
•Stem cells may play a major role in cancer"
I found that on a website.. It's likely they'd use the research for internal stuff like THAT, not regrowing limbs. At least not anytime soon. So, it would be used for a lot of things that people can DIE from (damaged organs/heart problems/diabetes/cancer, etc). So no more "oh they lost an arm they're an inspiration, and they're "fine" now" arguments..
Yeah, Noob's interpretation is correct.
Look, I'm a nostalgic person, but even I can accept that medical advances are necessary. Living in the deep past on crucial matters is not exactly "good".
I remember reading a Discover magazine article, in my favorite portion of the magazine: Vital Signs. In one case, they actually had the patient benefit from stem cells, that were in a way "coded", to reproduce as White Blood cells. I'll dig out that article soon enough, as it had the type of cancer...
Whoa bro, better slow down bro, don't wanna be a bro, bro.
Also like to point out that I think stem cells can be taken from things other than feti..? (is that the plural? Or fetuses? xD) If that's what bothers you.
Look, I'm not sure about donating my kidneys even,[I'm pretty sure they're exhausted, DX] Much less stem cells... I forget ifthey're present in the foreskin or elsewhere, to Discover magazine...
Whoa bro, better slow down bro, don't wanna be a bro, bro.
Yeah, well I don't really see the problem with taking them from aborted fetuses anyway, they aren't going to be doing anything useful otherwise. It is kind of like how some people donate their organs or body after they die. Arguments like this, I cannot help feeling that people against stem cell research are very selfish..
