My battery's low, but here's my (dramatically shortened down) reply:

Showdown sounds even more Awesome, considering what you just said.

I'm not sure how to handle the Tournament, then, although I honestly wouldn't rule out allowing hacked Games, if it meant everyone could participate.
(As long as the Pokémon couldn't have Moves and/or Abilities they shouldn't be able to have, or anything like that.)

As far the allowed Pokémon, basically just the Regional Trios, as well as things like Regigigas, Cresselia, Heatran, and the Ultra Beasts.
(Everything covered in my 2nd Legendary Pokémon Moveset Blog, plus Latios and Latias, in other words.)
