i don't think the DSi will be a relic for a LLLLLLOOOONNNGGGG time. 9 outta 10 of my friends use a DSi,not a 3DS.heck,i'm on my DSi XL right now.

DSi will be deader than a door nail soon. The main reason people have 3DSes is because of Flipnote. Once Flipnote closes in a month, the DSi will be pretty useless. I myself have just recently experienced the epicness of a PSP, so compared to a PSP, the DSi is pretty crappy.

I'd think the DSi and DSi XL will be like relics in about 2-4 years.

DSiPaint will keep going. If it was to ever stop, it'd be at least 5-10 years from now.

I'm back, I guess. Whatever.

What leaps to mind is that the DSiPaint app's raw stability and fluidity is superior to that of the 3DSPaint app, owing to their respective browser specs. Also noted, WiiPaint was and still is expectedly the most underwhelming of the three. Leading to the conclusion that it takes not a predictable and patterned route, but a fine combination of time, technology, browser support, and developer know-how to bring a successful browser app to fruition.

Catch my drift.

I say that the DSi is staying for a quite a while, even if Nintendo completely drops support of it. People would still use it for it's browser, and prehaps in a year or so would get a 3DS.

Hull keeps himself aware of the demographic and software landscapes and devotes attention accordingly. Wii homebrew was the beginning, DSi had its hey day and shaped what SDK is today, 3DS made steps feature-wise and will be home to TMJ, and WiiU is yet to be determined. It speaks volumes that the number one priority right now is iOS. It signals a distinct change in developer focus.

Will the DSi site ever become as dead as the Wii site? The SDK handheld spirit is still going strong, and consoles will never (repeat, never) beat that. 3DS has gained a significant foothold that is poised to overtake DSi, but has not yet. I predict the DSi's flame will remain alit until near the end of the 3DS's reign.

The DSi still accounts for about 75% of SDK traffic. About 20% of the remaining goes to the 3DS. For that reason, I have been focusing on the handheld aspect and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future. The Wii content will continue to be supported, but 150 visits per day does not warrant new and exclusive content that 4000 visits per day on the DSIi and 3DS gets. Time will tell for the Wii U.

I've branched out to iOS development as an extension of the mobile device paradigm - and since many members would jump onto their cell phones to check out the community, while on-the-go. Still, the REAL reason why I have chosen to go the iOS route is that one is not taken seriously in the video game industry without having published titles on well-known platforms. But enough about HB Online... Oops, I've said too much already. ;-)

I personally find the DS(i) as something to learn from.

Since I'm going to school for computer science this upcoming year, grabbing a used one at GameStop or CashConverter's and dissecting it could be fun, and maybe rewarding, such as programming my own personal software into it, and making it a better PDA than any brandname one.

DSiShop only has DSi stuff, whereas the eShop has Wii U and 3DS TRAILERS and GAMES. 2 different things.

The HOME button lets you suspend things and go on the HOME menu, whereas the DSi does not.

You don't even have to go ON the software to read the manuals. NONE of those go off the list.

DSi is a decent system. Though the main reason people kept theirs was Flipnote, which is gone. And their wasnt really any homebrew for it. Just on a flash cart which isn't really exclusive to it. And it's a decent system to take apart. But built in homebrew (like Wiis Homebrew Channel) is what is needed on the dsi or 3ds.
