BBs, forum, they're the same thing. People say the SDK BBs is different from a forum, but the only thing different is how much more advanced other forums are from the SDK BBs. Here, I will show you how to do so.
• Some HTML tags re-enabled. The only ones that works to my knowledge currently on the SDK BBs is the "b" tag (Example) and the "u" tag (Example). Tags were disabled some time ago because of the unprofessional use of them. (<marquee> and <font> being some of them) My opinion over it: not all of the tags are bad. What should be re-enabled:
- <a> (Hyperlink tag) This can be used to link to other sites, and most importantly, pictures. It's hard enough to copy and paste URLs on your DSi, in fact, you can't do it at all.
- <i> (Italicize tag) Bold and underline can be quite spammy when trying to make a point, or mentioning a foreign word correctly.
- <s> (Strikethrough tag) If the ability to edit your post is availible (see Edit Post) using strikethrough should be easier to help users identify deleted content from your older post rather than them having them look through the edit history. Also can be used for added humor.
- <img> (Image tag) Why not share your sprites for TMJ with the world with this tag? This is one of many examples why this should be re-enabled. Of course, there should be a size limit for each image, and any image that exceeds that must be put in as an attachment. (See Attachment) It is a bannable offense if this is disobeyed.
- <table> (Self-explanatory) Isn't it hard enough to do one without the aid of this tag? Useful in blogs, as well.
• Edit post. Editing posts are so much neater than making new posts pointing out the errors in your previous one, especially if you are a grammar Nazi. If an edit is made, an icon will appear on the top right of the changed post. When clicked, a history of all the times an edit has been made may be viewed. Past versions of the post may be viewed as well.
• Attachments. Mostly can be used for images that are very large and will squeeze the memory out of the DSi browser. As a plus, instead of using DSiE for your DSi extensions, you may add them here as an attachment so more people may view them.
I can't think of much else at the moment, so i will add some more ideas later, and feel free to add ideas yourself, as well as criticize the mentioned ones.
• A better way to navigate through masses of posts and threads. There are currently two ways you can navigate through a big thread, either go to the next page (">") or go to the last page (">>"). How about an input box saying "Go to Page" and you enter the page number to go to? Sounds easier to me. Also, the ">>" should be removed on the thread interface to avoid necroposting.
If that was confusing, say so, so I may try to re-translate it.
< b > and < u > both work. I've opted out of many other tags because they just ask for spammers, or they are not supported by the DSi or Wii. I'll eventually update the BBs, but I'm a one-man show, so I can only do so much.
