Cycling FTW. We dun have a car, but if it continues this way, I'll be coughing up more than our $2.00 fare for the bus. Thank clouds the L is electric.
Whoa bro, better slow down bro, don't wanna be a bro, bro.
True... Ironically, Gov. Quinn, when he took office as interim Governor for Rod Blagoeviech, [I forget how to spell his damn name,] he issued a tax increase whiich would[and has] mad our food tax, food being a necessity, higher than our fuel tax, fuel being a luxury. Can't wait for Rahm's tax plan... Simpicity, with sensibility...
Although oil companies due make obscene amounts of gross sales, they are also taxed some of the highest rates and have to pay some of the largest fees for various forms of government regulation compliance of all industries. After this, they want to maintain enough profit margin to invest into exploration, new technologies, and shareholder dividends.
Since all companies are in business to make money, any taxes or regulations levied against the oil companies just get passed to the consumer in the form of higher gas prices. Other factors in the prices stem from speculative investors and corporate greed in the form of government lobbyists to push politicians to alter the tax code for profit (as we especially see with banks and companies like General Electric).
