pro-choice all the way
(this is probably going to get flamed, which you probably already know though)
It is very important we keep abortion clinics in service so women don't have to resort to dangerous methods which can be very dangerous and end up killing the mother (coat hanger)
If it's just some ditzy teen who had unprotected sex and was immature, I do think abortions are a bit ehh... for that, but even they deserve a second chance.. especially if they wouldn't be able to raise the baby properly due to money/immaturity/school.
And some pregnancies can be dangerous and even end up killing the baby and the mother(blood problems, disease, the baby implanting in the fallopian tube, or somewhere else dangerous, if the mother is underweight/malnourished), so they definitely need abortions.
And if the family is having serious problems with money and/or housing/food. Then they really shouldn't be having a baby. babies need a lot of care, A lot of diapers(those things are expensive) a lot of clothes/toys/blankets/crib/potty/change table, etc. It is far from easy or inexpensive. Bringing a baby into a house where you can hardly take care of it is cruel in my opinion.
And rape. It is completely UNFAIR for a women, or even a young girl, to carry a baby for 9-ish months because of a horrible person who would do something like that. Sure, you might say "oh just put it up for adoption" but things are often easier said then done. It isn't fair for her to have to be pregnant for that long, or to pay for ultrasounds/vitamins/etc, or to have to give birth or to have her body messed up from all of this. Not to mention her mind.
I agree with Neon, I'm Pro-Choice, and really, it just makes sense. We have freedom of choice, and if someone lacks the capabilities and resources to raise a child humanely[not in a kennel], then it's for the better. And rape is a perfect example of why abortion clinics are needed.
@Ray: You're not going to know that you're pregnant for sure until A; You go see a doctor, or B; you miss your period, as the egg was fertilized, and no more will ovulate for the time being.
Whoa bro, better slow down bro, don't wanna be a bro, bro.
@Craig: *laughs insanely* FREE HEALTHCARE? We don't get that, only old people! XDD
Allow me to pull a low move... By aborting the child, rather, the fetus, you are giving the child back to God, thus allowing the miracle that is conception and birth -which are not done by cells, only miracles- to take place yet again with a more able family.
I somehow have a hunch that if all of you were 15y/o pregant girls, you might have a different take on the matter. "No I wouldn't, I'd own up to it." Pfft, of course you would. -.-
Whoa bro, better slow down bro, don't wanna be a bro, bro.
And I don't believe "life", as you guys think "life" is at least(which seems to be life=human?), begins at conception. Obviously cells are living, but the egg is a cell too, then it just multiplies and makes more cells for a while. So if life begins at conception you're basically saying that even when it's just 4 cells, it's murder, and it's a person. Should we throw girls in jail every time they have their period? It's not until pretty far into the pregnancy until the fetus actually has all the necessary things to survive outside the womb. As long as you get the abortion before that I'd say it's fine(and I think it's illegal past a certain point anyway), especially if it's for a good reason, like those listed above.
I still can't even comprehend how a fetus has more rights then a complete person with thoughts, emotions, family/friends, feeling, is self-aware, etc.
@Neon: In general, 1st-Term, or 3 months, is the deadline.[pun intended] And that's another good point, Ovulation occurs, and the egg cell is ejected, essentially.
Another good point.
Whoa bro, better slow down bro, don't wanna be a bro, bro.
I spent a whole evening reading up on abortion a few weeks ago. I am (underline am) pro-choice but pro-life has good points. I read a quote 'I notice everyone who is pro-choice is already born' and '70% of men are pro-life, 100% of them will never have a baby'. Among the fact that babies have zero say in this, there should be ample and legitamite reasons for having an abortion, if you are a teen and a condom broke, if you were raped, if you know the baby is going to have a life harming disease (Amneo centesis tests (sorry for the spelling)). one must be aware what happens during an abortion as well... If you dont know already, look it up. If you dont take the abortion pill (plan B for ex) in the first few days the more common abortion is terrible... In one picture I seen a dead fetus was ripped apart and laying there... the words underneath said 'I wonder how it feels to have your arms and legs ripped off without any choice'. This is a tough choice to make but either way it should be up to the mother. Of the governments outlawed abortions there would just as many done, but by people who have very little if any medical skill. I am happy , so happy that I live in Canada.
In all honesty, Pro-Life is like imagining what your cat or dog is thinking by 'saying' it in a high-pitched voice. Basically, you imply that something has developed senses and emotions, therefore, using said thing for one side's benefit. -.- If I wanted, I could say "I wonder what it feels like to be stuffed full or crap, suffocated by tape, then mercilessly torn open later. Cardboard box... Never forget."
In all honesty, having 7 year olds tote around sign-boards of bloody fetuses and crying Jesus', while their parents and Priests are shouting "WOULD YOU DO THIS TO YOUR KIDS?" while we try to walk through to get a bus, is that really right?
Another example, eggs. I'm not going to go all "Animals have a right to vote", I despise PETA. My point is, we eat embryos, essentially, fetuses, when eating an egg. Think about that. If you object to abortion, look at it that way.
I think I've made a sufficient statement.
