@Bloog: They're not technically a human. And that 'gift' brings countless fiscal, emotional, AND physical issues. No child is a 'gift'. It's not from 'God'. It's merely cells combining. -.-
Whoa bro, better slow down bro, don't wanna be a bro, bro.
Murder and abortions have basically nothing in common.. You(usually) get an abortion because you can't support and raise a healthy baby, or because of rape or something. You kill somebody because.. well I don't know (1) you hate them (2) you're just insane (3) other..?
Abortion is mostly because you care about them, yeah that may sound weird at first, but it makes sense. Murder is, well, just random killing fueled by hate, revenge or insanity.
And what about miscarriages? Seems like your god enjoys "murdering" babies too.. harsh, but I went there.
And just because I'm Atheist and you're Christian doesn't mean we automatically disagree. That's what annoys me about you people, though. [some] of you automatically assume that. -.- There are plenty of Christians I know who are Pro-Choice, and plenty of Atheists who are Pro-Life. Not everything is plain Black and White.
Whoa bro, better slow down bro, don't wanna be a bro, bro.
Well, it WAS at one point... Naw, it never was. It was just a catchy slogan thought up to attract 1700's tourists! :D
Look, it all comes down to one's own morals. If they believe that they are supposed to keep it, fine. If they decide that they don't want what will [u]eventually[/b] be classified as a child[happy, pessimists?], fine.
I can't help but think for some reason this calls into question some things regarding Dr. Kevorkian. The topics are quite similar, really. Killing something with the person's own consent...
If I may exaggerate a bit more, note I said 'kill'. But, we kill cells when we pick scabs, or take pills, or anything, really. So, why can't you all go defend the Malaria Cells? They need some good PR. -.-
Whoa bro, better slow down bro, don't wanna be a bro, bro.
Abortions are against my religion, if you get pregnant, you should take responsibility and give the child a life, even if it means giving it up for adoption. Just don't abort.
@Emo: Wow, that's a great reason! -.- What about YOUR opinions? YOUR thoughts? Not what your Religion says or believes? THIS is the kind of Religious person I can't stand, the one who doesn't take things into deeper consideration and reasoning othe than "my Religion says no". Skittles and Waffle King are both great examples of more accepting Religious-Nuts.[I say that affectionately. :P]
Whoa bro, better slow down bro, don't wanna be a bro, bro.
ALright, here's one for you. If you're against abortions, and I used this earlier to no response, what about eggs? What about eating former animal flash in general? I'm just saying, if you have a moral issue with abortion, then surely, you ought to have some issue with eating some nice, thick embryos. Or does it not matter, since they're from birds? -.- I'm just saying, and I'm not some "Animals need to be able to vote!" nut-job, I'm just giving you a more viable counter-argument, which you clearly wanted.
Whoa bro, better slow down bro, don't wanna be a bro, bro.
You know, the trees we cut down, they don't feel anything, like an embryo, they have no say in the matter, just like an embryo, and they are alive, just like an embryo. And yet, you use dead trees every day. Hypocrites.
Goodbye my only friend. Oh, did you think I meant you?
@Panzer:... I like that analogy much more. Yes, you're quite spot-on with that one.
@Noob: -.- You're missing the point. The food chain was never always humans>everythung else, but as technology developed, we triumphed. But, that's a different discussion. The point is, how do you enjoy eating an egg, then go and detest Abortion practices?
Whoa bro, better slow down bro, don't wanna be a bro, bro.
Does this mean if I wanted my finger amputated you'd have to get all of the cells' permission in my finger..? Since apparently cells deserve "a say" in the matter. And if you let certain cells have rights, you'll have to give rights to all of them since it's only fair.. not that pro-lifers are fair.. since according to them a fetus deserves more rights than a person..
Wrong. When you were a fetus you wouldn't have known so you couldn't have had an opinion on the matter without even being able to think.
I'm sure women are "grown enough to make the decision to get an abortion on their own" they don't need a non sentient being's rights overpowering theirs.
